| My lasting memory of Russ, will always be the teammate that he was. We could talk all day about the talent and accomplishments that he had but what made him great to me was the he carried himself as a leader of men..
If a player missed a block, dropped a ball, or ran a wrong route, Russ would not yell at them like what has become routine lately in todays CFL, but give them the confidence that the next play they would make that catch, make that key block or make a key play to win the game..
In his last game he led a team playing with 2 receivers on one leg and another receiver with one hand and came within a foot of pulling it out at the age of 50
Russ never made excuses, he was the ultimate team player, when we won he never took credit and when we lost never put blame on anyone, we won and lost together...the way it should be...
I don't know what I will be doing at 50, but I know I wont be playing football, what he has done will probably never be done ever again and is truly remarkable...
Russ, thanks for the great times, everything about you will always be missed...Good Luck in whatever lies ahead of you...

| My first years in the cfl i thought it was so unfair that green had "brett Favre" as their quarterback and i was stuck with sorry ass Nate. every game green played i saw Tony moss someone because of Russ's great arm. I use think to myself man this guy Tony is so lucky to have a sweet quaterback. Everyone would always say "russ is old, you shoulda seen him back in the day". Well i didnt get to see you back in the day, but i'm glad i got to see you play. it may not have been when you were 100% but it's been a blessing to have played against you and a long side you. Good luck and i'm sure ill see you reffing the indoor leagues.
1 more year!!!
