| This weekend we had 11 Rhino wrestlers head up north to Burlington-Edison and 4 wrestlers go to Fernadale to wrestler in the our first team outing of the season.
I'm proud of the 4 wrestlers who competed for the first time ever. Ethan, Rebecca, Hunter J, and Capron all wrestled hard and represented the Rhinos well.
Both Hunter J and Rebecca were able to get a win in their first tournament ever. Hunter came home with a bronze medal.
Ethan came out agressive and was able to win all three of his matches on saturday. An Undefeated day means he went home with a gold medal.
Capron wrestled 3 tough matches. One of them was a really fun match in which he was able to score 13 points. He did not come away with a win but he had a great time and he was a joy to watch.
All together the team brought home 11 medals over the weekend. We won 29 matches over the whole weekend. Even more impressive was that we got 21 of those wins by pin. :)
At the novice league tournament we were able to finish tied for sixth as a team. Every team that finished ahead of us had more wrestlers show up at the tournament except for one. If we had two more wrestlers win just one match we finish in the top 3 as a team. That was just how close it was. A top 3 finish in the future is possible and would be a great accomplishment for our young team.
I am proud to be the coach of these wonderful children. Win or lose they showed great heart and sportsmanship. Good job this weekend Rhinos.
