| Men's softbal, first and second, one out, little pop fly between pitcher and catcher, not a routine play. Pitcher clearly makes an attempt goes off his glove and he throws to third for the force and then the runner did not run to second and they threw to second for the double play. I got an argument and told the coach that it was not a routine play and it was my judgement call and by the way the runner could have averted a double play easily by running. Did I make the correct call?

| Allan, you did not yell infield fly so I see no problem

| Just the fact that you said the words "pop fly," in my mind say "infield fly." If it "should have been routine," rule of thumb, call it an infield fly to cover your "you know what!"

| If it's close, be safe, and call the infield fly.

| Mark and Tom, Read the question again. Allan specifically says not a routine play which to me means not with ordinary effort. Don't call infield fly. I don't agree with you at all and I am sticking by my ruling.

| 2things make this stand out as not an infield fly. #1 and most important "not a routine play" and #2 a little pop fly. I agree with Neal all the way.

| allen, neal & opa are correct, as were you! if it's not routine, it's not an IF. the IF is to protect runners, not idiots! if the guy on 1B had made any effort he'd have been safe @ 2B
