No outs. Runner on first. Ground ball to the shortstop, who throws to the second baseman covering second. The runner from first slides into the base, feet first, but with her arms raised above her head. The second baseman records the force out at second, but then hesitates slightly, before throwing the ball onto first, because of the raised hands.

The batter-runner was ruled safe. The umpires, after conferring, declare interference on the runner from first, and then award a double play.

Would have to see the play in person, but have a hard time seeing how a sliding runner, even in a full sitting upright position with hands above head could interfere with a throw.

Can't "read intent." Should have thrown it an "hit her in the hands." I think that the runner chould be safe at first.

i agree with RKB - hard to see how a sliding runner's arms could interfere with a throw plus Greg's point is also valid... can't read intent fielder should have thrown right away & if balls hits runner, then you have a dead ball, interference, B/R out
