It depends on what age level your son plays. There are more than one good organization. For high school ball, the Diablos are the best. For 12U, the Renegades out of Cedar Park are the best. For 11U, Austin Elite is the best. For 10U the Banditos are pretty farn good. For 8U I believe the Horns are very good. I can't help you under 8U.

"The best" is really hard to define because it can mean very different things for different people. I can tell you that we did not have a good experience with Austin Elite.

Same with us for mojo. Bad experience with overly aggressive coaching. At age 10 kids shouldn't fear their coach.

There are a LOT of options in Central Texas. You have tons of choices and opinions about them all. If you really care, do yourself a favor and go out to the STATE level tournaments and watch the teams, coaches, parents and narrow it down to some you want more info on. Spend some time there Sat. and Sun. and watch them all. You can watch USSSA and Super Series. That should give you some ideas.

There is nothing wrong with wanting your kid to try out for the best teams. He'll either make it or not. As far as "Daddy ball", there are several teams that have paid coaches who don't have kids on the team. The Austin Horns have all paid coaches with no kids on the team. Austin Elite has paid coaches, and not all of them have kids on the teams. If you really want an idea of some good teams, check the USSSA rankings for Texas South. You'll see all of the local travel teams on there. Find the #1 team and look at the teams that have beat them. That's about as close as you're gonna get to knowing who the best teams are. Good luck!

My Husband and I did look at rankings and find that it's not the organazation that makes a great team it's the group of kids and the coach. So saying look at the organization is not at all how to find the best plus since their is an so called "organization" on every corner the pool of great kids is depleted to one here two there. You just need to go try out, choose and move on.
