| R1 on 3rd. Following a pitch, Catcher comes out from behind the plate to simulate a pick off play to third, stumbles and falls without releasing the ball. F5, F6 and F7 all act like they are chasing an overthrown ball down the third baseline. As R1 attempts to score F2 stands up and tags her. Is this an example of INT/OBS since the sole purpose appears to be to deceive the opponent?

| Softball has a number of situations that are meant to deceive the opponent. For example a shortstop (with a runner on second) fields a ground ball, fakes the throw to 1B in order to get the runner on 2B to go to 3B and get tagged out. Unless there is a specific rule to deem it illegal, it is legal and a great imaginative play.

| No fake tag involved. Just a good old fashion decoy executed.
