| I am appalled at the leadership of the Danvers Babe Ruth League and will not let my children sign up again as long as Keith Lucy is involved. I look at the national Sportsmanship Code and see statements like Develop a strong urge for sportsman-like conduct. Develop courage in defeat, tolerance and modesty in victory, and Develop control over emotions and speech.
But if you were to see the hate-fueled bitter, profane language he uses on Facebook you have to agree this is not the measure of a person I want coaching my children. He does so all over face-book, bit the most horrific is in a newly created FB site called Danvers Gripe.
You can see for yourself. Go to Danvers Gripe, asked to join, and when you get approved look for the post where someone named Cat Wolniewicz asks “Just wondering when someone is gonna start a Danvers praise page”. Then look at the replies under the comment by Zack Wells. Follow all the replies and you will see where he is swearing at people, calling some posters “whores”, asking others if they gave their husband the clap, calling others perverts, thief’s, welfare cheats and far, far worse.
The group is a “closed” group now, but anyone can simply ask to join and they are in. Including parents and children of the Town.
Go to the site and judge for yourself if this person should be coaching, educating, or leading in any way the children.
And I have also sent a similar message to Tom Bettencourt, the Commissioner of the District 1 league. But he informs me he is not the Commissioner any more.
I also tried contacting Mark Matanes who is listed as the EMASS Babe Ruth President, but have had no response.
I hope you take action. Several of the parents relate stories of Mr. Lucy screaming at kids at practice and games. They are also considering removing their children.
Don’t let this angry man ruin the reputation of a great sports program.
I have used this email address because I fear if he finds out who I am, I will become one of his targets. But will check my email regularly for your response.
