CHAI… the importance and how it affects every aspect of the Chaldean community from football to marriage

This old fashioned Chaldean family is ready to marry off their son. Their son is having trouble finding a wife because he has such a bad mouth. He curses every other word. The father sits him down one day and has a talk with him he says to his son “Son, when asking for a woman’s hand in marriage you have to watch your language in front of her parents.” “It’s been tough finding a family that hasn’t heard how filthy of a mouth you have.” The son agreed to try to watch his mouth the next time they approach a family and ask for their daughters hand in marriage. The very next day the boys aunt tell his mother that she found a girl for her son, but warned them that the family is very religious so the son needs to be on his best behavior. The family is very excited and doesn’t want to blow the chance like all of the other times. So, the father sits the boy down again and this time doesn’t tell him to watch his mouth but not to say a word. He says if they ask you a question I’ll answer it, when they greet you shake their hands and smile but don’t say a word. The family arrives at the girls home and the parents of the girl along with her two brothers greets the family at the door pleasantries are exchanged and the families sit down. The father is fielding all the questions and making sure his son does not blow it and it’s going just as the father planned when the inevitable happens. The girl’s grandma comes out of the kitchen with a tray of CHAI with cream and sugar on the try. When the grandma sets the try down she notices she forgot the spoons and hopes no one notices. She most definitely didn’t want to make a bad impression on her future grandson, So she tries to get back to the kitchen and grab some before it becomes an issue. Being as old as she is it takes her a while. In the time it took her to get to the kitchen and back this is how the events played out. The mother of the bride to be tells the fowl mouthed boy to help himself. So he looks at the try and doesn’t see any spoons so he just smiles. As all Chaldean ladies do, she insists. The father of the boy doesn’t want this to turn into a problem. So he tells his son to appease her and grab a cup of CHAI. The boy looks over the try again just in case he over look the spoons, because he sure as heck doesn’t want to ask for a spoon because he knows if he starts talking its over. The grandma is still not back with the spoons. The boy still does not pick up a cup of CHAI. The father of the bride to be gets involved and says “Son in our culture it’s disrespectful not to have tea when asking for someone’s hand in marriage.” The boy can’t keep his silence anymore.

He stands up points at the try of CHAI and says “what do expect me to stir it with my dick.”

Ya...it's true Joey...it was all over the news...they said he "got blocked from the back" and when he hit the ground the bone in his nose broke and went into his brain. Sad story but we can all learn from it...meaning, we really have to watch the cheap hits on the field

Wow, I didnt see it on the news, I actually thought it was stupid, Jerrod (you know Jerrod Abro Francis) asked me about it and I told him he was an idiot. I am sorry to hear, I wasnt trying to publicize it or anything, I really didnt think it was true

Gazzeela man. That is tragic. Same with Alex Nannoshi. I did not know him, but my little cousin did. For those of you who don't know, he was a 14 year old chaldean kid. He took a stroll on his snow-mobile on Cass Lake and colided with his neigbor two weeks ago. He died almost instantly. Check out his website www.alexnannoshi.com. My prayers go out to him and his family. Life is too short fellas.
