Saints win Championship in Walk-Off fashion!!!
In a game with several back and forth scores, the Saints finally prevailed in the Bottom of the 7th! The Midwest Astros started off by scoring 2 runs in the Top of the 1st. The Saints matched those 2 runs in the Bottom of the 1st. Neither team scored again until the 5th inning when the Astros took a 3 to 2 lead. In the Bottom of the 6th, Easton Embry hit a one-out Single and that was followed by a Myles Griffith walk. That brought Luke Barnes to the plate and he delivered a 2 RBI Triple to the Right-Centerfield wall to make the score 4 to 3 Saints. Barnes then scored on a wild pitch to make the score 5 to 3. However, the Astros were not done. They scored 2 runs in the Top of the 7th to knot the score at 5 apiece. Finally, in the bottom of the 7th with 1 out, Kitchel Gifford, Parker Shelton, and Jaret Humphrey each walked. With 1 out and the bases loaded, Easton Embry ripped a rope right down the Left Field Line to plate Gifford for the game winner!
The Saints finished 6 & 0 in the tournament and now stand at 9 Wins & 1 Loss on the season! They head to Omaha to play in the Battle of Omaha 19U Tournament. The Saints will get to enjoy two College World Series Games. The Saints won this 48 Team Tournament in 2015 and had Elite 8 appearances in 2016 and 2017!
