Foley Gets Milestone Win
Eric Foley earned his 150th career win as the York Diamonds came from behind to defeat the Bowmanville Dodgers 5-3.
Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the 5th, the Diamonds pushed across a run on a throwing error. In the 6th, Rich Freeman tied it with a hard single and then Rob Rivers and Marshall Irving both walked with the bases loaded to make it 5-3.
Foley did not record his first strikeout of the night until the 4th, but he ended with six punchouts in his 7+ innings (128 pitches). In the 8th (and final inning), Andrew Greig came on with nobody out and the tying runs on base, but induced a soft ground ball sandwiched in between two strikeouts to earn his second save of the campaign. Greig has not allowed a hit or a walk in his four innings this season.
After the game, Manny Rodriguez treated the team to marinated steak sandwiches, cooked to perfection by team grillmaster, Fil Vazzano.
