Slugs Upset Splunkers For Second Time; Eliminate Top Seed
Eighth seeded Banana Slugs bounced right back from being perfect gamed by the Noodles minutes before and bested the top seeded Splunkers, 3-1, in an elimination game to reach the Bracket A finals. After a scoreless first inning, the Slugs belted back-to-back one out home runs, the first by Morris, followed by Davey, to get ahead 2-0 early. The Splunkers cashed in one run in the second off a Cree Garner leadoff triple followed by an Aaron Lindow double, narrowing the score to 2-1. Nate Morris settled in after the Splunkers first run and did not allow another one. He struck out seven Splunkers, including the game winning out in the bottom of the fifth with bases loaded. The Slugs added their third run on three singles in the fourth. Cree Garner threw the complete game for the Splunkers.
