Travis Lipinsky Drives in 5 to Lead Cowboys Past Chiefs
Travis Lipinsky drove in five runs on two hits to lead Litchfield past Nonnewaug 6-4 on Saturday. Lipinsky hit a home run to left field in the fourth inning, scoring three runs, and doubled in the second inning, scoring two.
Despite falling down by six runs in the fourth, Nonnewaug tried to fight back. The Cheifs closed the gap by scoring on a single, a hit by pitch, and an error.
The Cowboys opened the scoring in the first after Nick Dest doubled, scoring one run.
A double by Lipinsky extended the Litchfield Cowboys lead to 3-0 in the top of the second.
Litchifled scored three runs in the top of the fourth on a home run to left by Lipinsky.
Lipinsky stepped on the mound first for the Cowboys surrendering no hits and no runs over four innings, striking out three and walking four. T.J. Angiolini started on the hill for the Chiefs. The left-hander allowed four hits and six runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking three. Dest and Joe Sepples each appeared in relief for the Cowboys.
Elian Vega stole two bases.
Henry Keil led the Chiefs with two hits in three at-bats. Lucas Savarese paced Nonnewaug with three walks. Overal, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game.
