Lipinsky A Difficult Out As Cowboys Defeat Mountaineers
Travis Lipinsky collected three hits in five at-bats as Litchfield defeated Housatonic 15-9 on Wednesday. Lipinsky doubled in the second inning, singled in the third, and singled in the first.
The Cowboys scored eight in the second on the way to victory. Chase Reynolds doubled, scoring one run, Cyrus Gerena singled, scoring one run, Elian Vega hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Lipinsky doubled, scoring one run, Joe Sepples singled, scoring one run, Nick Dest tripled scoring one run, Jack Gollow tripled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
The Cowboys scored five runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Lipinsky singled, scoring two runs, Sepples singled, scoring one run, Gollow singled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
Gollow stepped on the rubber to start the game for Litchfield. The right-hander surrendered four hits and nine runs (four earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking five. Riemer started the game for Housatonic. He surrendered eight hits and eight runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Gage Rohrer pitched one and one-third innings of zero-run ball for Litchfield in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up one hit, striking out one and walking two.
The Cowboys collected 16 hits on the day. Reynolds, Sepples, Gollow, Gerena, and Vega each collected multiple hits for Litchfield. The Cowboys had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Sepples and Gus Worden led the team with two walks each. Sepples, Lipinsky, Vega, and Worden each stole multiple bases for Litchfield. The Cowboys stole 12 bases in the game and turned one double play.
Miller, Foley, Race, Bagen, and Conklin each collected one hit for Housatonic. Foley and Bosio each drove in two runs for the Mountaineers. Race paced Housatonic with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.
