Dest Drives in Five in Victory Over Gilbert
Nick Dest drove in five runs on four hits to lead the Cowboys past Gilbert on Monday. Dest doubled in the second scoring two, singled in the first scoring one, hit a sac fly in the third scoring one, and doubled in the fifth scoring one.
Litchfield got on the board in the top of the first after Dest singled, and Jack Gollow hit a sac fly, each scoring one run.
The Cowboys scored five runs on one hit in the top of the second. Travis Lipinsky was struck by a pitch, driving in one run, Jace Kinsman induced Joe Sepples to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Dest doubled, scoring two runs, and Colby Morgan was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Litchfield scored seven runs on three hits in the top of the third. An error scored one run, Dest hit a sac fly, scoring one run, Gollow grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Morgan singled, scoring one run, Elian Vega was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, and Lipinsky singled, scoring one run.
Chase Reynolds stepped on the bump for Litchfield allowing two hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking three. Kinsman started on the hill for Gilbert and surrendered two hits and seven runs (three earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking five. Gage Rohrer appeared in relief for Litchfield.
Vega paced the Cowboys with three walks leading the team who amassed nine for the game. Sepples and Morgan each stole multiple bases for Litchfield who stole 10 bags on the day.
Evan Richardson and Mason Pierce each collected two hits for the Yellow Jackets. Evan Richardson, Nick Closson, Zack Richardson, and Jayden Dileo each drove in one run for Gilbert.
The Cowboys welcome Terryville to Litchfield on Tuesday.
