Astros Defense Spotty, Timely Hits (Fortunately) Win The Day
It was a picturesque late morning spent in Wakefield, with a gentle ocean breeze keeping the temperatures down for the final regular season tilt between the MA Warriors and the NH Astros. Perhaps the breeze negatively affected the Astros defense? Or the spirited coed tennis match behind the backstop? In a display that likely caused Abner Doubleday to spin in his grave, the Astros booted seven (7) balls on the day to keep the game uncomfortably close before finally retiring the side on a timely double play in the bottom of the Ninth. Dirty Jimmy (1-0) secured his first W of the season, while Barber (2-1) started the game through four, then came back in in the 9th to (barely) shut the door. The Astros welcome the NH Brewers to Riley Field in Bedford on Wednesday night, while the MA Warriors welcome the NH Grays to Wakefield next Saturday.
