Astros Score Early, Hold On To Defeat Undefeated Grey Sox
In an evenly matched contest at the Astros' second half Merrimack home field, the NH Astros jumped out early, plating three runs in the bottom of the First to go up on the visiting MA Grey Sox. It was a quiet first three innings for the Grey Sox as Astros starter Sirois kept the visitors off-balance, surrendering two hits while recording three K's. In the Fourth, the Sox almost broke it open, scoring four runs with timely hitting and aggressive baserunning before Sirois stopped the bleeding and quieted the Sox bats in his final Fifth inning with another strike-out. Barber relieved for the final four innings, playing with fire a few times before retiring B. Leclair for the final out. The Astros are off next weekend-- thankfully getting the opportunity to mend some injuries-- while the Grey Sox welcome the NH Granite to Leominster.
