Down & Dirty Shows Late Life But Falls To Goobers Softball
Both Goobers Softball and Down & Dirty had their offenses going on Tuesday, but Goobers Softball eventually prevailed 11-9. Goobers Softball collected 17 hits, while Down & Dirty had 15.
Josh Pileggi collected three hits in three at bats in the win. Pileggi doubled in the first inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the third inning.
Down & Dirty got on the board in the first inning after Black Grey Pant hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
Goobers Softball took the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first thanks to doubles by Pileggi, and Ryan McNeil.
Goobers Softball added one run in the second. Rob Ryan singled, making the score 3-1.
Goobers Softball added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Bobby Chapman scored after tagging up, McNeil doubled, and Adam Sawoszczuk singled, each scoring one run.
Down & Dirty flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on six hits to take the lead, 9-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Blue Shorts that drove in two.
Goobers Softball flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on seven hits to take the lead, 11-9. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Ariah Tell that drove in one.
Chapman earned the win for Goobers Softball. The pitcher gave up 15 hits and nine runs over five innings, striking out none and walking none.
Goobers Softball piled up 17 hits in the game. McNeil provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Goobers Softball with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 3-for-3 on the day. Pileggi, McNeil, and Chapman each collected three hits for Goobers Softball. Sawoszczuk collected two hits for Goobers Softball in three at bats. Goobers Softball turned one double play in the game.
Down & Dirty collected 15 hits in the game. Blue Shorts led Down & Dirty with three hits in three at bats. Black Grey Pant, Black White Pant, and Blue Shorts each drove in two runs for Down & Dirty. Red Jacket and Navy Jacket each collected multiple hits for Down & Dirty. Down & Dirty turned one double play in the game.
