Chapman Has Lots Of Hits But Goobers Fall To Thunder Buff
Bobby Chapman collected four hits in four at bats, but Goobers Softball lost to Thunder buffaloes 8-6 on Tuesday. Chapman doubled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.
Thunder buffaloes got on the board in the top of the first inning after #12 grounded into a fielder's choice, #18 grounded into a fielder's choice, and Thunder buffaloes scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.
Thunder buffaloes added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after #18 grounded out, and #73 singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Goobers Softball tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a single by Ariah Tell, a sacrifice fly by Josh Pileggi, and a single by Ryan McNeil.
In the top of the seventh, Thunder buffaloes broke up the tie when an error scored one run. Then a single by Black Hoodie White Glove followed to extend the lead to 8-6.
Chapman led things off in the circle for Goobers Softball. The hurler surrendered 18 hits and eight runs (five earned) over seven innings, striking out one and walking one.
Goobers Softball piled up 14 hits in the game. Pileggi drove the middle of the lineup, leading Goobers Softball with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Jon Boodhoo, Tell, and Steve Rocha each collected multiple hits for Goobers Softball.
Thunder buffaloes collected 18 hits in the game. Black Hoodie White Glove and #4 were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Thunder buffaloes while hitting back-to-back. #18 went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. #73, #12, #22, and #74 each collected multiple hits for Thunder buffaloes. Thunder buffaloes turned one double play in the game.
