All Offense In Goobers Softball Loss Against Down & Dirty
Bats were blistered on Tuesday, but Goobers Softball couldn't quite get the job done against Down & Dirty and lost 18-9. Down & Dirty collected 22 hits, while Goobers Softball had 23.
Goobers Softball lost despite out-hitting Down & Dirty 23 to 22. Darryl Danilko led Goobers Softball with four hits.
Goobers Softball got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ryan McNeil tripled, JP Anderson singled, Kyle Gerrard singled, and Brian Fraser singled, each scoring one run.
Goobers Softball extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Danilko and Anderson.
Down & Dirty flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by #42 that drove in two.
McNeil doubled, which helped Goobers Softball tie the game at eight in the top of the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, Down & Dirty broke up the tie when #16 singled, scoring one run. Then a single by #53 followed to extend the lead to 10-8.
Down & Dirty scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. #53 singled, scoring one run, Blue Shorts singled, scoring one run, #33 singled, scoring one run, and #23 doubled, scoring two runs.
McNeil stepped in the circle first for Goobers Softball. The starting pitcher allowed 22 hits and 18 runs (14 earned) over five innings, striking out two and walking four.
Goobers Softball amassed 23 hits in the game. Danilko led Goobers Softball with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 4-for-4 on the day. Anderson, Bryan Ploen, Fraser, Jon Boodhoo, Mike Vierno, McNeil, Gerrard, and Kevin Danilko each collected multiple hits for Goobers Softball.
Down & Dirty piled up 22 hits in the game. #23 led Down & Dirty with four runs batted in. #23 went 2-for-2 on the day. #33 led Down & Dirty with four hits in four at bats. #38, Blue Shorts, #77, #53, and #16 each collected multiple hits for Down & Dirty. #39 led Down & Dirty with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying four walks for the game. Down & Dirty turned one double play in the game.
