Walk-Off Seals The Deal In Goobers Victory Over Thunder Buff
It came down to the wire on Tuesday, as Goobers Softball grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 9-8, over Thunder buffaloes. The game was tied at eight in the bottom of the seventh when Ryan McNeil singled, scoring one run.
Thunder buffaloes jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after #5 drew a walk, scoring one run, and #27 singled, scoring two runs.
Goobers Softball flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Adam Sawoszczuk that drove in two.
Thunder buffaloes tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a single by #27, and a sacrifice fly by #12.
A single by Kyle Gerrard gave Goobers Softball the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the third.
Thunder buffaloes took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after #27 doubled to center field, #62 singled to center field, and #22 singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Goobers Softball tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Kevin Danilko, and a single by JP Anderson.
Bobby Chapman opened the game for Goobers Softball. The starter gave up 18 hits and eight runs over seven innings, striking out none and walking three.
Goobers Softball piled up 17 hits in the game. Goobers Softball's Anderson, the number nine hitter, led Goobers Softball with three hits in three at bats. Sawoszczuk, Anderson, and Danilko each drove in two runs for Goobers Softball. Darryl Danilko, Bryan Ploen, Chapman, and Gerrard each collected multiple hits for Goobers Softball. Goobers Softball turned one double play in the game. Goobers Softball didn't commit a single error in the field. Danilko had the most chances in the field with eight.
Thunder buffaloes accumulated 18 hits in the game. #27, the number seven hitter for Thunder buffaloes, led the way with four runs batted in. #27 went 4-for-4 on the day. #25, #33, #88, #5, and #62 each collected multiple hits for Thunder buffaloes. Thunder buffaloes turned one double play in the game.
