"North End's Merchants"
The East Side Merchants (10-19, 6-12) lost their second straight game and end up splitting the season series with North End. Matty Grill (1-2) threw outstanding baseball for 6-innings. Aside from four walks Grill had everything going from the get-go allowing only four hits while striking out six. His counterpart, however, Andy Fitzgerald was even better. Fitzgerald threw a 7-inning complete game victory striking out 13 Merchants in the process. With the win, North End moves to (10-9) in the Saint Paul League securing a spot in the double-loss elimination tournament starting Tuesday (July 27th) while the Merchants fall to (6-12) in league play. The East Side Merchants are back in action tomorrow night at Dunning under the lights against the red-hot Shamrocks.
