The East Side Merchants (10-22, 6-14, 0-1) lost the opener of the 2008 Saint Paul League Playoffs to league powerhouse, the Rosetown A's, 9-0 on Tuesday night at Dunning Stadium. Right handed Ace Ben Fleetham proved to be the difference as he cruised through four innings of work allowing no hits and striking out 10 Merchant batters in the process. Rosetwon pitching finished with 14 strikeouts on the evening, a season high for East Side batters, while shutting out the Merchants in the process and allowing only three hits through seven innings of work.
