Kutztown Quiets A's
Kutztown's starter Kyle Hartman and Muhlenberg's starter Cameron Weidner matched zeros threw nine innings before giving way to their bullpens at Gochnauer Field on Thursday night.
In the 11th, Kutztown broke the scoreless tie when Kody Reichert's sacrifice fly scored Dustin Smith for the 1-0 lead. Smith threw two scoreless innings to pick up the win in relief of Hartman.
"Hartman and Weidner were brilliant tonight," said coach Phil Raccugla. "Pounding the zone and pitching out of jams . . . it was a really good ball game that unfortunately we came up on the wrong end of the scoreboard."
Conor Williams went 2 for 4 for Muhlenberg while Andrew Gernert and Drew Entriken (3 for 5) each doubled for the Cougars.
Kutztown swept Muhlenberg in the season series pushing the A's to 4-4 in league play, 14-6-1 overall. Next up is Chaney, MD and Nor Gywn at the Norchester/Boyertown Father's Day Tournament.
