Pelko, Patriots Upend A's
Garret Pelko had a wonderful Spring season for Coach Harrison and the Berks County Champions. Saturday morning he continued that success for Coach Van Gulik and the Oley Topton Patriots in a 4-2 win.
"That young man is one of the top tier pitchers in our league," said head coach Phil Raccuglia. "He comes after you with absolutely no fear and shoves it."
Pelko threw five innings striking out nine while giving up two hits. Zach Eddiger picked up the save in relief. Nick Distasio had two hits for Oley Topton.
Mike Calvaersi picked up the tough luck loss despite throwing five strong innings giving up one earned run.
"Michael was awesome." "I told him that we cannot go where we want to without him stepping up like this."
Muhlenberg (2-1, 9-3) must pick up the pieces and head to Pottsville tonight for night portion of the doubleheader in another Schuylkill-Berks showdown at 8PM.
