Amato's off to running start as defending champs
The green and gold were ablaze on the base paths today stealing 10 basses in their 12 to 7 win.
Dani Plummer got the opening day nod and pitched a jem. She tallied 13 K's for the day allowing only 1 hit and 1 run and two base on balls in 5 innings pitched.
Along with the fine pitching, the defense was on top of their game as well. Grace Bailer at 3B seemed to have a magnet in her glove as any ball her way was fielded cleanly with good throws to 1B. Jamie Dillon fielded the only hit against the green & gold in left field quickly hitting her cut off preventing the runner from advancing. Plumber also lent a hand defensively with 2 assists from the mound.
Other defensive notes were Anna Driscoll and Megan Murrel backing up every throw to the pitcher from 2B & SS positions.
Offensively the GIRLZ display a keen eye at the plate only stiking out 7 times, all but one swinging! 7 girlz reached base via the WALK, Dominique Caron took not one for the team but two Hit By Pitch as well as 3 other girlz.
Good swings were had by all, the big hits were provided by Murrel with a Home Run and Triple, Bailer with a stand up Double and Mary Farnkoff with a two RBI Single.
Other pitching notes: Tori Hale made her fist venture to the mound at the major level in the 6th inning, racking up a K closing out the game and with for the Amato's Majors.
