Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-ing it on!
Amato's Majors were running as much as they could tonight, not only to manufacture and score runs, but just to stay warm as the temperatures dropped into the low 50's and a wind chill in the low 40's. The Green and Gold drew 15 base on balls and steeling 12 more bases to help them score 13 runs on the night. Dominique Caron lead the way drawing three free passes, Mary Farnkoff, Grace Bailor, Jamie Dillon and Tori Hale each drew a pair each. Eight Girlz swiped at least one base, Hale collecting 3 herself, Megan Murrell, and Farnkoff each with two.
Dani Plummer started the night on the mound pitching 3 innings before a muscle strain flared up and put her on the bench for the night. Before finishing Plummer notched more 8 K's in three innings pitched allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits and 3 walks. Plummer also hit a solid double to left field in the top of the third. Farnkoff came in relief in the bottom of the 5th pitching 1.2 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 4 walks, 2 walks and one HPB. Murrell finished the night pitching the 6th allowing 1 earned run on 2 walks with 1 K.
Defensively there were good plays and a couple miscues (tempurature induced no doubt) that allowed the ball to roam the infield and the Community Bulders to score 3 unearned runs to tie the game in the 4th tieing the game 6 to 6. The Girlz aanswered the call in the top of the 5th scoring their maximum 5 runs alloted which was enough to win the game. Anna Driscoll had had 6 put outs at first base, Farnkoff had 4 assist on the night.
Practice Wednesday night with the Red Storm Varsity team (weather permiting) on the high school field. 6pm.
