Guckin & Fey Hold down Reds through extras!
Sam Guckin was the Sam of old when he threw 6 scoreless and K'd 8 on the evening. The Frank Sirolliless Reds and Dodgers were scoreless into the bottom of the 7th. Matt Fey came on in relief of Guckin and after 2 walks and a hit batter it was bases loaded and no outs for the always dangerous Mike Wasco. Fey got a K on a 9 pitch at bat and then proceeded to K Randy Macnair. A ground ball to 3rd ended the inning miraculously still tied at 0-0. The Dodgers 2 out rally in the top of the 8th produced 4 runs with the big blows being doubles by Tim Petrucelli and Shane Albertson to grab a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the 8th which Fey would hold onto for the key victory for the visiting Dodgers. John Bednarek pitched a great game into the 8th inning keeping the Dodgers off balance all night.
