Diamonds Win A Thriller
For the second year in a row, the York Diamonds pulled out a last inning win over the Scarborough Dragons.
Starter Rob Hehir shut York down through six and had had a 2-0 lead, courtesy of a double steal and a sacrifice fly.
Steve Correia made a rare start for the Diamonds and was excellent going 6 innings, allowing one earned run and striking out 6.
In the 7th, Rob Rivers singled up the middle and then Paul Freeman was credited with an infield hit as his ground ball was thrown to second, too late to get Rivers. Jeff Murphy then grounded to first and the throw to second sailed into left field, allowing Rivers to score. Correia then delivered a 2-run double to give the Diamonds a 3-2 lead.
Eric Foley came in on only two days rest for a three up three down seventh inning to record his second save of the year.
