Fools Making an Early Case as the Team to Beat
Game 2 featured 2 explosive squads that will make for a great rematch shall the opportunity present itself in playoffs. The Real Splitters and Shaqtin’ Fools have rosters on paper that both have a chance to be standing at the end of it all in June. The game was within single digits for its entirety until Shaqtin’s Lyndon Annetts and Sheldon Pittman together caught fire late in the 4th to pull away with the 83-72 win. The Splitters’ Lee Danderfer started slow and grinded out a gritty 17 points as the same can be said for team mate Denzel James who finished with 14. The team lead went to Yasser Abdullahi with 16, who showcased a special flair to his game and shouldered the load in the 1st half until Danderfer and James joined the party. Shaqtin’ Fools made a strong case that they may be the team to beat showing they can play several styles – fast, slow, inside, outside – and that was with some key depth players absent from the match. Annetts led the way with 26 points on 61% shooting followed by Todd Bergen-Henengouwen with 24.
