C.R.E.A.M. Rises to the Top in Thriller Fresh off a 50+ point men’s league outing, C.R.E.A.M’s Pat Poczobut still had the hot hand as he came out guns blazing, outscoring The entire Real Splitters team 10-9 in the 1st quarter to propel his mates to a convincing 22-9 lead. Knowing the resilience of the Splitters unit, no one expected them to take it lightly. They battled back to tie the game by the start of the 4th quarter to set up a thrilling finish. With the clutch 4th quarter play of C.R.E.A.M’s Keith Marshall – 8 points on 100% shooting – the game came down to the final possession. The Real Splitters were staring down a 78-76 deficit with the ball and just over 3 seconds on the clock. After a time out and the luxury of having a Griffin coach on the squad to aid in drawing up a play, the ran some cross action and were able to free up for a really good look at a 3-pointer. As the ball sailed toward the basket, it looked like it was destined the drop but instead collided with the rim and bounced on the losing side of the cylinder. The loss drops the Splitters to a surprising 0-2 record but they are not a team to be slept on when the bright lights come on in June and crowds explode from 2 to a whopping 5 people in the stands. Defending performer of the week Ryan May led C.R.E.A.M with 21 while Poczobut and Marshall chipped in 20 and 18 respectively. Splitters were led by Lee Danderfer who scored all 23 of his points in the second half with Denzel James contributing with 20.
