These two combatants have met in the previous two Division I championships, with Dynamo winning in Fall/Winter 2020/21, and Flaming Dragon II the most recent victor, in Spring 2021. The next chapter of their rivalry would continue on Opening Night, which began with a banner raising ceremony for the Flaming Dragon II. Unwilling to allow their adversary to benefit from the raucous crowd, Dynamo would go to work and pin the Dragons in their own zone. The pressure from players such as Brock Forrest and Greg Bowers would eventually lead to an opportunity, during which Bowers would feed Forrest for a one-timer which would result in a Dynamo lead. Dynamo would continue on the attack and double it to 2-0 when a fancy play would yield a 3-on-2, culminating in Jonathan Krug going high from Brock and Erich Polak. Even when Flaming Dragon II would have a bit of a respite, or so they would think, Joe Carbone would be there to deny them, while on the other end, Brock would finish off the first period with a laser of a goal when he fired in from Beuk Forrest, and it was all Dynamo going into the first intermission, up 3-0. The second period would begin with more Dynamo: Brock completing his hat trick from Beuk and Mark Fisher, then a magical finish by Brock, unassisted, when he danced through multiple Dragons and cut across the slot on his forehand, going against the grain for 5-0. Flaming Dragon II would finally wake up and get on the board when Andrew "Lil 'Drew" Park would streak down the wing before meeting up with Captain Steve "Ozzy" Osvold, which would lead to Ozzy hitting the trailer, Jake "The Snake" Worby, who, from the high slot, would tee off for 5-1. Now the Dragons had some life about them, and would further narrow things when Lil 'Drew would hit the target from an acute angle when Justin Waldron threw the puck to him from the point, but Brock would cancel that out with his fifth goal to quell any momentum Flaming Dragon II may have had going into the third period, with it now 6-2 Dynamo, who also led on shots 20-18. 6-2 would become 8-2 thanks to another Brock goal (his sixth), and Beuk from Greg Bowers. Now at running time, much of the third period ticked away before Flaming Dragon II could restore the deficit to below six, which was done when Ozzy would net from Lil 'Drew. Beuk's breakaway goal would cancel that out and it was now 9-3, and back to running time as the game would near its conclusion. Due to the lopsided scoreline, Lil 'Drew's quality performance would go a little unnoticed, but not here at PTAHL Headquarters, who took note of him as he notched his second goal of the night for his fourth point overall. That would bring it to 9-4, and Justin Waldron would bring it to 9-5, which would hold up for the final, as Dynamo would get the better of Flaming Dragon II. A monster night by Brock Forrest (6G, 1A), he would win the Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award in what was a career game for the young Dynamo, and an all time great PTAHL performance.
