Lux Interior's first PTAHL game would be against last season's champion, the Pterodactyls. The Pterodactyls were looking to bounce back after a 3-1 loss to Green Brook, but would be hit with a Lux Interior blitz, quickly falling behind on shots 8-4. Up to this point, Lux Interior would be unable to beat Jeff Leidner, and would instead be pipped at the other end when "Mean" Gene Carrigan would go high from Alex Smondyrev for 1-0 Pterodactyls. Undeterred, Lux Interior would equalize through Brian Colvin, who would deke through a pair of Pterodactyls on his way to a backhand finish, but Adam "Manhandle" Crandall would ensure the Pterodactyls would go into the second period ahead when he would field a pass from Robbie Astalos, and wrist in. The Pterodactyls were now 2-1 up, but Lux Interior had a bit better of the play, leading on shots at 15-10. Lux Interior would fend off some early second period chances by the Flying Fossils, as fill-in netminder James Coughlin flashed the leather. Around halfway through the period, Colvin would level it again, utilizing his dekes again, and it the back and forth tilt would go into the third all square at 2-2, with the shots now 28-25 in favor of Lux Interior. The third period would be bonkers with both teams filling the net, but not before Leidner would deny Colvin with his pad. But Colvin would get an immediate respite, completing his hat trick from Mike Carulli and JC Stephanek, for Lux Interior's first lead. After a rough to Adam "Manhandle" Crandall, Lux Interior would have an opportunity to double their advantage, but would surrender a short handed goal to Kyle "The Arsonist" Argent, who would snipe with a wrister, hitting the back bar of the net with a pinpoint accurate shot. Manhandle would then return to the ice and atone for his malfeasance, wristing in on the right wing, his off wing, from Astalos, leapfrogging Lux Interior for 4-3 in their favor. Colvin would level things with a low wrister for his fourth goal, continuing his masterful performance, as the game pressed on and overtime seemed more and more like a possibility. Just 2:30 was on the clock when Manhandle completed his hat trick after flinging a puck on net, but Lux Interior would force an icing soon after. The Pterodactyls would use their timeout to catch their breath, but instead this would galvanize Lux Interior, who would draw up a play when Captain Rich Parks pulled out his dry erase board. It would go to perfection when Colvin would win a faceoff right to Christian Hoffman, who would fire in high on a one-timer, and it was now 5-5 as Parks and Lux Interior would bear the fruits of his game planning. Overtime was almost certainly a possibility now, but Colvin had other ideas, when he would play a puck to Chris Parliman who would execute a laser of a pass to Kevin Tucker, who would cap off the crazy third period by banging in low, as Lux Interior won their maiden PTAHL game 6-5. Brian Colvin had 4G, 2A and a hand in all six Lux Interior goals, and would take home the Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award for his career night in only his first game in the PTAHL.
