This matchup would feature two high flying teams: Dynamo and the expansion Tusks. Dynamo would quickly go ahead with a fantastic goal by Mike Loricco when he would go high on an odd-man rush from Brock Forrest. The Tusks would level it with Robert Neuwirth for his first career PTAHL goal, which was also the first goal in franchise history, which was followed by a trip to Dan Panella, who would make franchise history of his own with the Tusks' first penalty. Dynamo would make the Tusks pay for Panella's malfeasance with a power play goal by Loricco from Forrest for 2-1, with Dynamo also leading on shots at 10-7 going into the second period. The Tusks would get out of the gate with an early second period goal by Erich Polak, who would dazzle with his stick handling, and go high, then Nick Aloise would score from Chris Robinson for a Tusks lead. Now down 3-2, Dynamo would try to muster up some pressure, and would be rewarded with a snipe by Tommy Fisher when he used his wrist shot on the left wing, his off wing. The shot totals were now 25-18 Dynamo. The third period was mostly a struggle for goals, but Dynamo would go up 4-3 when Forrest would finally get into the goal column with an unassisted finish, for the only goal of the third period. This game would be considered a possible championship preview, as both teams battled hard for all three points, which would go Dynamo's way, outshooting the Tusks 35-32. The Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by Brock Forrest (1G, 2A).
