Lux Interior and Holy Book Hockey would begin with a feeling out process, with it being the first time these two teams have met. But it would be Lux Interior who would strike first, with Mike Nudo from Darren "Grizzard" Grzyb on a low laser. After a hook to Lux Interior's Tom "Don" Dwan, Holy Book Hockey would go on a power play and capitalize with Pete "Swaggy P" Haglund from Angelo Pizzuto. Lux Interior would go short handed again, this time when JC "Smiles" Stephanak would be assessed a trip, but it would be Lux Interior who would score during his stay in the box, with Mike "Eye of The" Tyburski unassisted for. At 2-1 Lux Interior, that scoreline would hold going into the third period, but it would be Holy Book Hockey who would have the advantage on shots, at 14-7. The second period would produce an early Lux Interior goal when Chris "Fatal" Stebbings would knife through the Holy Book defense and deliver when he would deke and lift the puck into the roof of the net. Holy Book Hockey would then have their third power play of the game, but this one would come in an unusual way: A case of mistaken identity would put Mike "No Fly" Kramer in the box for a hook. While the wrong Lux Man was in the box, the result would be the same for the Bookkeepers, a power play, with this one ending on Captain Dan Ford's howitzer from the blue line, for a conversion rate of 2/3 on Holy Book Hockey's power play. Down a single goal, Holy Book would level things at 3-3 when "Hollerin'" Dan Halleran would finish from Bobby Jakubowski, which would set up an exciting third period, with the shot totals still in favor of Holy Book Hockey, but now at 26-21. A contentious third period, neither team could find a way to go ahead. But that would change when Fatal Stebbings would corral a bouncing puck and quickly fire off a wrister, which would find the net, low. Trailing again, Holy Book would have to figure out a way to equalize, and would do so with a Mike Merfert goal from Rich "The Barber" Barbiera for 4-4, as the excitement continued to rise, with the crowd producing noise at a deafening decibel level. Both teams gave their fans reason to believe they could take it, but the next lead would belong to Lux Interior, who would go up with Eye of The Tyburski on a sneaky shot, low through traffic, which would hit the back of the net before Holy Book Hockey knew anything about it. Time was now the enemy of Holy Book, and they would have to be more aggressive. They were, but it would be at the cost of opening themselves up for a Lux Interior chance, which would come and be cashed in by Fatal Stebbings, for his hat trick goal. Lux Interior, now up two, would go down a man when Nudo was called for a hook; Holy Book Hockey would respond by pulling their goalie, but Lux Interior Captain Rich Parks would end it with the rare empty net short handed goal, in what was a 7-4, extremely exciting, Lux Interior win. The Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by Chris "Fatal" Stebbings (3G).
