During a delayed hold to Minotaur Captain Steve Breheny, the Swarm would go ahead with an absolute wonder goal by Nick Volonnino from Fadi Kirollos when Volonnino, from the slot, would size up the top corner, and hit that target bar down. Minotaur would quickly equalize with a goal by Dugan, as much of a highlight reel finish as Volonnino's, with a fantastic deke. A hold to Brendan Breheny would put Minotaur short, during which the Swarm would capitalize, with Ed Stulak from Steve Romano and Alex Borowick. But Minotaur would again come back to level terms, this time when Dugan would make a dynamic play. At 2-2, and the shots 9-9, the first period would end; about as fair of a result you could have considering the fine play of both clubs. The second period would be mostly stellar goaltending, but eventually the Swarm would pull ahead when Steve Norman would wrist home after some shifty moves by Beuk Forrest would free him up for a shot. There was Minotaur again though, with Steve Breheny, who was on the back door and tapped in from Cory Rothlisberger. Now 3-3, the Swarm would retaliate with Stulak unassisted, as the alternating goals would continue, and further continue with Steve Breheny, who would deflect in a slap shot by Dugan. 4-4 it was, and 4-4 it would stay, going into the third period, with the shots 26-25 in favor of Minotaur. Unsurprisingly, the third period was more even play, but when Steve Breheny's interference minor would put Minotaur down a man, Romano would fire in from Forrest for 5-4 Swarm, their fifth lead overall. This song and dance has been seen before, and right on cue, Minotaur would erase their fifth deficit; Dugan from Rothlisberger on a 2-on-1 would be the man to do it, after some criss crossing and crisp passing. The clock was winding down and overtime seemed like a real possibility, but Minotaur would finally go up for the first time, with Rothlisberger unassisted. That Rothlisberger goal would come with only 56 second remaining, which would be followed by a Swarm timeout. After regaining their composure, the Swarm would line up for the faceoff and March down the ice; they would pull their goalie for the extra attacker, and it would pay off when Nick Volonnino would pass to Beuk Forrest, who slapped from the point, which produced a rebound which was whacked in by Romano. Overtime would be needed to decide a possible winner, and at 6-6, would come, with the shots at 36-34 Swarm. Each team would have opportunities in overtime, but the game winning goal would come when Beuk Forrest threw the puck down the chewed up ice, which was chased down and possessed by Borowick, who would then perform a dazzling deke for the game winner, lifting it up and in with his backhand. This game would be as wild as any you would see, as each team got something out of this 7-6 Swarm overtime win (the Swarm took home two points, while Minotaur won one). The final shot totals were 37-36 Swarm, and the winner of the Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by Beuk Forrest (4A), and Steve Romano (2G, 1A).
