Both teams would clog the neutral zone and try to stifle the other team's speed, and it would largely work for most of the first period, as the score remained 0-0. Near the end of the period, Team ODIN would find daylight, and go ahead when Chris Ostapiuk would fire in from Matt "Strawberry Milk" Skjeie, after the Milk Man would execute a fabulous deke to free up space for his teammate. Team ODIN would go into the second period ahead 1-0, but would trail on shots 8-6. The second period would see netminder Tony Bucci lead a lovely breakout, which would result in a goal by Christian Hoppeler, when he cut across the slot on his forehand, and would go high. Back and forth it would go, but eventually another ODIN goal would come, this one Brian "The Salamander" Salvesen from Ryan Bolton, but a quick response by Doug Meade on a wrister from Dave Biskowitz, would cancel that out. Now 2-2, it would appear that it would be tied going into the third period, but after Bucci made a pad save, Christian Hoppeler had other ideas, going coast to coast, speeding and slaloming past three ODIN defenders, and utilizing his wrister for a bar down finish. Now 3-2, the Phantoms would go into the third having pipped the lead from Team ODIN, while still leading by shots, but increasing their margin to 18-13. Most of the third period would go by with no further goals, due to the fantastic goaltending by Bucci and Tyler Morris. But the Phantoms would double their lead when Johnny Hoppeler would snipe from the left wing, his off wing. Down by two, an immediate response by Team ODIN would be needed, and they would get it, when Ostapiuk would halve the deficit, unassisted. Behind 4-3, Team ODIN would try to attack with more fervor, but would be unable to muster up much, and would be unable to pull Morris for the extra skater. For their efforts in the Phantoms' 4-3 win, Christian Hoppeler (2G) and Tony Bucci (2A (on both of Hoppeler's goals) and 3GA with 14 saves) won the Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award.
