The Tropics would begin their PTAHL journey with a quick goal by NG Welsh, who snuck behind the Tusks defense in the neutral zone, and was hit with a pass by Kevin Morello; Welsh would go in on a breakaway, and while his wrister was met with the left pad of Carter Siani, the rebound would come right back to Welsh, who would bury this one, for 1-0. Welsh's goal would come 57 seconds in, but the game's next goal wouldn't come until 8:39 remained in the first period, when Erich Polak would one-time low just inside the post when Robert Neuwirth played a tape to tape cross ice pass. An immediate response by the Tropics, with Pete Krzewinski on a redirect from Tommy Fisher, would bring it to 2-1 Tropics, but the Tusks canceled that out with a goal by Matt "Sly" Fox on a pinpoint accurate laser into the roof of the net. Now with some momentum, the Tusks would add another with Sly Fox, this time from Polak on a redirect not completely dissimilar to the Krzewinski Tropics goal from earlier, and go ahead 3-2. The period was nearing its conclusion when NG Welsh would speed in and deke a few times before sliding the puck in, with 52 seconds on the clock. Eighteen seconds later, Morello would pull the Tropics in front with a low finish, and the Tropics would go into the second period 4-3, and 14-10 on shots. The second period would have another early goal, this time for the Tusks when, 1:03 in, Ryan "Smash" Adams would level it from Sly Fox. After a long stretch of fantastic goaltending by Carter Siani of the Tusks and David Thompson of the Tropics, the Tusks would go in front with Polak from Sly Fox. Again, it would look like the Tusks would enter the next period with the lead, but another Tropics late period goal, this one with 14 seconds, Dion Yan from Robbie Kacerosky and Tommy Fisher, would even it up at 5-5. Unlike last period, it would remain all square when the buzzer hit, but the Tropics would extend their lead on shots, now at 31-23. The goalies would boss most of the third period, each making a highlight reel save along the way: Siani would stone John Bastardo with his blocker, Thompson would rob Alex Miragaya with his glove. But eventually, a goal would be scored, when Anthony "The Fireball" Inverno would light the lamp from close range, and it was now 6-5 Tusks. The first two goal cushion of the game in the form of Neuwirth from Adam Sklar, and while the Tropics would have a late power play, they would be unable to trim their deficit, and at 7-5, the Tusks would win. The final shots totals were 43-38 Tropics. The Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by Matt "Sly" Fox (2G, 2A).
