After 41 seconds of action, Green Brook would go ahead with Joe Patrick from Pat Perez. But 42 seconds later, Holy Book Hockey would level it when Bobby Jakubowski would go low from Danny "The Man" Manzo and Dan "Hollerin'" Halleran. The fireworks would continue with a Hollerin' Hallerin goal from The Man, but I would now be Green Brook's turn to equalize, when Patrick would one-time from Andrew Bzdula and Perez. Now 2-2, Holy Book would answer with Mike "Merf Dog" Merfert on a pretty deke, but one minute later, Perez continued to fill the scoresheet, this time with a goal, when Milton Solis helped. Holy Book's next goal would be David Ferrara when he dinged the pipe and in from Jakubowski and Merf Dog, but Bzdula from Perez, after a lovely lead pass by Perez, would make it 4-4. One last first period goal would come, Milton Solis from Perez, for 5-4, which would hold for the second period, as the Berets would go into the break slightly outpacing Holy Book. The first period shot totals would be 14 apiece, but 17 seconds into the second period, Nick Oyola would bring it to 15-14 and 5-5 with a phenomenal finish, carving up the Green Brook defense. The high scoring first 15 minutes and change would die off, and the only other goal of the second period would be Dean Moakler from Darren Kamikura for 6-5 Green Brook. The shot totals would now be 23-20 for Holy Book, but if they were to get anything out of this game, they would have to come from behind after the intermission. The third period would begin with a Dominick Ogbinene goal from Merf Dog for Holy Book, for 6-6. Now with the game on a knife edge, both teams would attack with more fervor to get the lead goal, which the form of Ogbinene from Merf Dog, repeating the feat from earlier, and it would now be 7-6 Holy Book. Behind for the first time since 4-3, Green Brook would now be the one chasing the game, but they would be unable to crack Holy Book for another, and it would be a 7-6 win, a wild one, for Holy Book Hockey. The Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by, Mike Merfert (2G, 2A), and in a losing effort, Pat Perez (2G, 3A).
