The Tusks and Dynamo would likely be the favorite for the top flight crown at ProTec, and would face each other for the second time this season, after Dynamo won their first encounter 4-3 in regulation. The first goal of the game would be for the Tusks when Nick Aloise would dash down the ice, right through the Dynamo defense, pretty much down the middle; Aloise would then juke to his forehand and snipe for 1-0. The Tusks bench would roar with excitement after Aloise's highlight reel moves, and they would follow this with another goal, Adam Sklar unassisted when he would go low, for 2-0. Robert Neuwirth from Chris Robinson and Dan Panella would increase the Tusks' lead to 3-0, and Dynamo would be left wondering how they came out of the gate so lethargic. While Dynamo would continue to reel, Sklar filled the net from Captain Matt "Sly" Fox, on a pinpoint accurate laser of a finish, and it would now be 4-0. Dynamo would wake up and pull back a goal with a great breakout when Brock Forrest would lead Beuk Forrest, who would find Mark Fisher, who would do the rest. Now down 4-1, with a late period goal, Dynamo would come closer, Brock Forrest from Beuk Forrest, but an even later period goal by Dan Panella would cancel out the Forrest finish, and any momentum Dynamo was building heading into the intermission, with it now 5-2 Tusks. The first period shot totals were 18-17 Tusks. The second period would see the Tusks strike first again, regaining their four goal lead through Anthony "The Inferno" Inverno from Sly Fox and Sklar. Dynamo would answer with a pair of Jonathan Krug goals: first from Brock Forrest, then from Ryan Adams, and it would now be 6-4. The comeback would nearly be complete when Tommy Fisher would bring Dynamo to down one, but there would be Sly Fox from Sklar to give the Tusks some breathing room, now 7-5. Robinson unassisted would add a goal for 8-5 Tusks, but Tommy Fisher's unassisted response would mean it would be 8-6. The second period would be capped off by Sklar's hat trick goal, and the high flying affair would enter the third period at 9-6 Tusks, who would also lead on shots at 39-34, as the rubber would continue to fly. The third period would begin with Sly Fox's slashing minor, but the Tusks would be undeterred, and score while he would be in the box, with Polak from Neuwirth on an odd-man rush, for 10-6. Fox would atone for his malfeasance with a goal, then he would assist Polak, and at 12-6, there wouldn't be much to do but play out the remainder of the contest. A late Alexander "The Red Nosed Reindeer" Rudolph goal from Adams would mean 12-7, but Polak would complete his hat trick from Panella, in what would be a 13-7 football score win for the Tusks. The final shot totals would be Tusks 56, Dynamo 44. What a win it would be for the Tusks, taking down their rival by a wide margin in what could be a championship preview. These two teams always create fireworks when they meet, so don't miss the action the next time they meet, on December 19. Tickets are going fast! The Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award would be won by Matt "Sly" Fox (2G, 3A), and Adam Sklar (3G, 1A).
