The Phantoms would begin strong with an opening shift goal by Christian Hoppeler. They would follow this with a goal on their next shift when Brian Buonomo would fire low from Doug Meade for 2-0, and the Swarm would be stunned to find themselves in such an early hole. The next goal would be Buonomo unassisted with a laser into the top corner, but the Swarm would wake up and pull back a goal on Steve Romano's cannon. Now up 3-1, Hoppeler would add another, but the final goal of the fist period would be Jimmy "The Burner" Byrnes from Fadi Kirollos, and it would go into the second period at 4-2 Phantoms, but it would be the Swarm who would have the momentum. The first period shot totals would be 10-8 Phantoms, and they would continue to pepper Swarm netminder Dan Volonnino, which would eventually culminate with Buonomo's hat trick goal from Doug Meade. The Swarm would be unwilling to let the game slip away from them and would pip the Phantoms with a counter by Captain Patrick Stehn on a fantastic finish from Skyler "H To The" Izzo, and it would now be 5-3 Phantoms, which would hold going into the third period, but again it would be the Swarm with the momentum (the shots would now be 24-23 Phantoms). This time, the momentum carried by the Swarm into the following period, would pay off when Mike Wagner would go high to halve the Swarm deficit, and now they would really be buzzing. The Swarm would now pace the action and would nearly tie it when Nick Volonnino would hit the post, but at least for the moment, they would remain down one. Clinging to that 5-4 lead, the Phantoms would find a way to tally when Hoppeler poked a puck free, chased it down, and would net on a breakaway. That would be Hoppeler's hat trick goal, and he would follow that with a goal from Buonomo and Chris "The Kazmanian Devil" Kazlauskas, before his fifth goal, which would be unassisted for 8-4. That scoreline would remain for the final, as a game of inches with the Swam nearly leveling it on Voloninno's post pinger, would go the Phantoms' way after Hoppeler's third period outburst. The final shot totals would be 37-34 Phantoms, and the Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by Christian Hoppeler (5G), and Brian Buonomo (3G, 1A).
