A highlight reel finish by the Tropics, Sam Welsh across to Sam Kanda, then to the trailer Kevin Morello who would wrist low on that 3-on-2, would put them ahead. The Tropics would then move to 2-0 up when Dan Kukuyev would one-time in with a rifle from Kanda, as each team would rack up the shots on target. David Thompson, so far perfect in net for the Tropics, would stone league leading scorer Brock Forrest on a breakaway, while on the other end, Joe Carbone would rob Peter Krzewinski from point blank range. Dynamo would finally pull back a goal when Jonathan Krug would intercept a Tropics pass and feed Greg Bowers, who would go in on a breakaway and halve their deficit, then Krug would level it on a rebound after Ryan "Smash" Adams would be denied. The period would end 2-2 and, this would probably be the best period that scorekeeper and League Commissioner Brian Rappleyea had seen during his tenure in both roles: It had it all, up-and-down play, fabulous goals, quality goaltending by Carbone and Thompson, and a bonkers shot total of Dynamo 17, Tropics 16. The heavy metal hockey would continue into the second period, with Carbone and Thompson bossing the crease even more. Over half the period would go by until the 2-2 deadlock would be undone, when Kukukyev would go off the pipe and in from Ryan Fisher, and when Tommy Fisher would toe drag and wrist a laser into the top corner, the Tropics would be up 4-2. Dynamo would be unwilling to fall further behind, and would claw back from their second two goal deficit, this time with Greg Bowers after Brad Bowers would drop a pass off to him when they would criss-cross, and when Beuk Forrest would fire a pinpoint accurate pass to Brock Forrest, who would do the rest and equalize, now 4-4. Riding this two goal burst, Dynamo would now leapfrog the Tropics with a phenomenal deke by Brad Bowers, on which he would go to his backhand and lift the puck up and in. The Tropics would generate one final attack before the intermission, and would execute some crips passing which would result in NG Welsh going low just before the buzzer (one second would be remaining), from Morello. 5-5 it would be at the break, as both Thompson and Carbone would continue to face lots of rubber, Dynamo now outshooting the Tropics 35-28. This classic would produce another fantastic period, which would begin with Brock Forrest dashing down the right wing and hitting the target with a wrister. Kukuyev would cancel out the Forrest goal with his hat trick goal when he would dazzle with some stickhandling and a proper finish to match, and it would now be 6-6. The next goal would be for Dynamo, Brad Bowers from Greg Bowers during a low scramble in front of the Tropics' net. Knowing that a 7-6 advantage would probably not be enough, considering the Tropics' firepower, Dynamo would double their lead to 8-6 through Smash Adams from Beuk Forrest and Brock Forrest, and now would begin to suck the life out of the game and prevent the Tropics from mounting a comeback. Dynamo would be successful in this endeavor, and take it 8-6 (also leading on shots 46-38, in what would no doubt be a ratings bonanza when the playoffs arrive. The Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by Joe Carbone (32 saves on 38 shots). Honorable mention goes to David Thompson (38 saves on 46 shots).
