Less than a minute in, with a goal by Daren Kamikura from Chris Mazza, the Sewer Rats would go ahead. The Hooligans would level it when Chris Gallo would go low, but by the end of the first period, the Sewer Rats would lead 2-1 after Mazza would finish from Kamikura. The first period shot totals would be 14-8 Sewer Rats, but the Hooligans would come out of the break swinging, and equalize on Robert Friedman's tap in from Joe Hutchison, after Hutchison would deke around a Sewer Rat and free up space for his Hooligan homie. It would appear as if the second period would end with it 2-2, but there would only be 19 seconds on the clock when Boris Raizberg from Greg "The Spider" Webster, would peel off the game's next goal, and it would go into the second intermission with the Sewer Rats up 3-2 and 28-12 on shots. The third period would provide the Sewer Rats their first two goal cushion, when Mazza would go off the crossbar and in. But the Hooligans would answer with Gallo from Mike Dillon to cut their deficit to 4-3. The next Sewer Rats goal would be Raizberg from Mark Phelps and Pat Vogt, and it would seemingly be put away, now 5-3. The Hooligans would pull their goalie and pull it to a one goal game with Hutchison's goal, but that would be as close as they would get, as the Sewer Rats would win a potential championship preview, 5-4. The final shot totals would be 41-23 Sewer Rats. The Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by Chris Mazza (2G, 1A).
