Holy Book Hockey would begin well, with a tic-tac-toe finish high, by Nick Oyola after Mike "Merf Dog" Merfert and Dan "Hollerin'" Halleran would set him up. Steve Nierenberg would then play in Merf Dog for a quality chance, on which he would initially be stoned, but would whack in the rebound for 2-0, with that scoreline holding for the first intermission. The shot totals would be 12-7 Holy Book Hockey. An immediate goal by Oyola, deking to his backhand and sliding in after Merf Dog would lead him in on a breakaway, would make it 3-0 Bookkeepers. Hollerin' Halleran would then be on the end of another pretty Holy Book Hockey play, this one courtesy of Oyola and Captain Dan Ford, for 4-0, but a fluky Biohazards goal, perhaps the type of goal needed for them to turn this around, by Achilles Alon from Joe Greco, would get them on the board. But there would be Holy Book with Joe "The Falcon" Fallacaro, and it would now be 5-1. Holy Book would continue to add to their lead, with Halleran unassisted, and Halleran from Oyola and Ford for his hat trick goal, now 7-1, at the end of two periods. The shot totals would now be 25-15 Holy Book Hockey. Due to the lopsided nature of the third period, the remainder of the game would mostly be a non-event. But still, Holy Book Hockey would increase it to 8-1 when Halleran would go low from Merf Dog. The Biohazards would then provide an element of excitement when Adam Steckler would go in on a breakaway, only to be tripped by Steve Nierenberg, which would facilitate a penalty shot. Steckler would then calmly meander down the ice and go off the pipe and in, for 8-2, which would be the final goal of the game, as Holy Book Hockey would take all three points, leading on shots 38-23. The Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by Dan "Hollerin'" Halleran, (4G, 1A), Mike "Merf Dog" Merfert (1G, 3A), and Nick Oyola (2G, 2A).
