With a regulation win, either team could finish as the one seed, depending on the regular season's final game: Minotaur v. Phantoms. The encounter would begin slowly, with each goalie, Kevin Kobilinski of Minotaur, and Nick Volonnino of the Swarm, making fantastic saves. Minotaur would rob Steve Romano with a glove on a laser which had top shelf aspirations, while Volonnino would, with his pad, deny Chip Wieczorek on a deke. Still 0-0, Jeff Dugan would be the man to light the lamp for the game's opener, when he would cut across the slot and go against the grain for 1-0 Minotaur. That advantage would hold for the second period, while Minotaur would also maintain an advantage of one on shots, 13-12. The second period would feature more exciting goaltending, each making more highlight reel saves: Kobilinski with his blocker, and Volonnino with his paddle. But the Swarm would eventually equalize when Skyler "H To The Izzo" would fire a slap shot over the net from the point, but the blast would rebound off the glass to Romano, who would fee Captain Patrick Stehn, who would finish for 1-1, which would be the scoreline going into the third period. The shot totals would now be 24-24. The Kobilinski and Volonnino show, starring Kobilinski and Volonnino, would continue into the third period, as they would keep racking up the saves. Both would stop multiple breakaways and neither would concede another, and it would have to go to overtime to determine a winner, with the shot totals now 35-35. Overtime would see each team register five shots, but a winner could not be found. The goalies would each earn a standing ovation from the capacity crowd, in what would be a firecracker of a game, and possible championship preview. A final of 1-1 and a point for both teams, the shot totals would also finish deadlocked, 40-40. The Stateside Tap + Tavern Man of the Match Award was won by Kevin Kobilinski and Nick Volonnino (each with 1GA and 39 saves).
