Waterville, Ohio September 4, 2007 2:38:02 PM Entry ID: 1199847 | The Toledo Mudhens WON the Western Division of the International League once again and will go into the playoffs on Friday night. A number of the players who worked hard to get the 'Hens where they are have been called up to the Detroit Tigers..and Jack Hanahan, my favorite Mudhen, was traded to Oakland...he came to Detroit last week and had four RBI's just to let Detroit know what they let get away! So, don't know how the 'Hens will fare in the playoffs as half of the starters are new to the 'Hens. The Mudhens play in the BEST ballpark in the minor leagues! ALL of the SWARM should aspire to playing for the 'Hens! And, then they can move on to the BIG LEAGUES! Play hard and good luck...perhaps I will see you all soon! |

Waterville, Ohio August 6, 2007 4:48:36 PM Entry ID: 1177530 | The Mudhens are leading the Western Division of our International League despite the fact that we have "lost" at least three players to the "mother ship", the Detroit Tigers. Mike Hessman, a Californian, 6'7" third baseman with the 'Hens (tallest third baseman I have ever seen...and he covers the field extremely well) is now playing first for the Tigers...Vasquez is pitching and Ryan Raburn is in their outfield. Timo Perez, an outfielder, was up with the Tigers for a few days, but is back with the 'Hens. This happens each year about this time...the Tigers take a few of the best Mudhens, so they can make a run at the pennant. I am sure that you all remember that the 'Hens have won the Western Division in each of the past two years. We are trying to make it three straight...just like Tiger Woods at Akron. I look forward to seeing ALL of the SWARM playing for the Mudhens in the near future! Love you guys! Keep your gloves clean and well oiled and keep the sand from your cleats! Keep your bats on the ball. |

| Kevin Robertson Swarm City, USA February 13, 2007 9:45:09 AM Entry ID: 1050422 | Nick, Coach Rafael's posting was only meant to be an account of the week in Colorado, done 8 months ago in July 2006. He did that write-up just after the tournament was done, so he only mentioned the players that went. He thinks the world of you as a player and recommended you to me when we formed the team. You are an important member of this team and we love having you out with us. Good luck this season at Mira Mesa and we'll hopefully see you soon. Coach Kevin |
| rafael SD February 10, 2007 1:04:23 PM Entry ID: 1048617 | i owe an apology to two of are swarm players that did not travel to colorado with us but are a big part of the swarm...Nick Portugal and Morgan Roman-Baumeister i am sorry for leaving you guys out of my write-up....nick came to us from mira mesa when the swarm first started, he is a player that we can put anywhere on the field and count on him to make plays...not only is he a good player but most important he is a great kid , a real pleasure to coach, and the fastest Portugal i know [ smile boys ] ..... Morgan is also a stud that makes many plays and is only league age 9.He also is a real smart player with no fear....with boys like morgan and nick it makes coaching alot of fun for all of us!!! keep up the hard work and continue the being great kids!!!!!! |

Thank You and all the coaches for coaching me. Nick Portugal |

Waterville, Ohio November 23, 2006 9:34:36 AM Entry ID: 1000902 | Look at them base stealers, Ain't they a sight, Wearin' that yellow, black and white! Look at them hitters, Swattin' them long balls, None of them are quitters! Look at them catchers, Scoopin' them outta the grass! Pickin' them runners off, Not lettin' them pass. Wanna be a SWARM man? Wanna get a hit? Grab yourself a big bat, Stand in and rap it! Keep playing tough, it's great reading! |
