A 'PANDA' IN HER CORNER
Naperville's Kugelberg recovers with help from her 'friends'
![]() |
Girls like teddy bears. Mirabella Kugelberg loves her Kung Fu Panda. The 12-year-old Naperville resident is a big fan of the San Francisco Giants’ biggest player, the 250-pound Pablo “Kung Fu Panda” Sandoval. She’s also no longer epileptic, and that might be the biggest thing about her life today. Kugelberg suffered from absence seizures during most of her childhood. |

| More than 100 Naperville Diamonds players, family members and coaches marched in the 2014 Naperville Memorial Day parade. In conjunction with Stories of Naperville Vets (www.sonvets.com), each Diamonds player honored two local veterans by wearing their names on the backs of their jerseys during the parade. One Diamonds player, Rhiannon McKay, was spotted by her veteran, Gregory Perchatsch. He thanked her for recognizing him and took a photo with her. Thousands of spectators cheered and applauded the girls during the parade! | |||

2013 Naperville Diamonds Graduates Attend College Exposure Practice during Winter Break |

Amy Cecil - University of Illinois Springfield |

|
2013 graduates Amy, Lexi, Lauren, Brittany and Brooke visited Matrix practice over the winter holiday to share their experiences living college softball (or hockey, in Brooke’s case) and attending their perspective schools. They not only practiced with the Matrix, but led open discussions on what to expect when you attend college and play collegiate softball. They covered all topics including their daily routine with softball, how many hours a day involve softball and how many involve studying, how they each juggle their stringent athletic life with managing classes. They even were nice enough to openly discuss their social life, or complete lack of a social life!!! They all are thriving in softball and as freshman already making great contributions to their teams at a young age. The entire coaching staff and their teammates are very proud to have coached and played with such great student-athletes. More importantly, these young ladies serve as excellent role models for our younger Diamonds players. Both Lauren Cairo and Brooke Meyer will be full-time assistant coaches the summer of 2014. Lauren will be coaching with the 14U “A” Naperville Diamonds Cramer Hawks and Brooke will be coaching with the 18U College Exposure Matrix.
