DA FAM CLUB STANDS THEIR GROUND BY DEFENDING THEIR TITLE AND COACH...LOL

DA FAM DOES IT Again this time Defending their Title in the IAABO "SWIM ACROSS THE SOUND" BENEFIT GAME . THIS TIME INSTEAD OF GOING THROUGH ROUNDS THEY ONLY HAD A BEST OUT OF THREE SCHEDULE WITH THE SHELTON BOYS/GIRLS CLUB WHO COMBINED WITH MILFORD'S HARBOUR SIDE MIDDLE FEATURING 7TH GRADE SENSATION CASEY DULIN AND CT VALLEY AAU.BUT THINGS GOT TRICKY EARLY IN A T-MENT FOR 7TH/8TH GRADERS ENDED UP BEING A 14U GAME AFTER SHELTON BOYS/GIRLS CLUB TRIED TO SNEEK BY 4 FRESHMAN PLAYERS INTO THE LINEUP...NOT..NEXT TIME MAKE SURE THE KIDS DON'T WHERE THEIR HIGH SCHOOL SWEATSHIRTS THERE OR USE THEIR NAMES ON THE ROSTER BECAUSE THIS COACH FOLLOWS GOOD PLAYERS AND THAT IS WHAT BLEW THEIR COVER. SO OF COURSE DA FAM WAS NEVER SCARED AND CALLED UP THE PARATROOPERS CANDICE "DA BIG SHOW" WILLIAMS AND MONET"OUT OF MY WAY" FERNADEZ WHO DROPPED IN FROM OUR HELICOPTER DRIVEN BY NEW PARENT(TONY/CHRISSY'S DAD)PUT EVERYBODY IN A FRENZY FOR ON THE OPPOSING TEAM AS WELL AS THE COACHES.SO ONCE THE BALL WENT UP IT WAS ALL DA FAM Club AS USUAL AS WE HELD A 20 POINT COASTING LEAD AT THE HALF WITH THE DEFENSE LEADING THE WAY.AN IT CAME FROM ALL ANGLES ROSE,ASHLEY,KAMIA,CHRISSY(NEWCOMER)IN THE BACKCOURT AND LATAVIA,CANDICE,MONET AND TALEESHA IN THE POST.THEN CAME THE HALF COURT OFFENSE WHICH THEY COULD NOT SEEM TO FIGURE OUT AS THEY TRIED TO HELP IN THE POST BUT NATALIE MCGAUGHLIN OPENED UP THE THREE POINT LINE HITTING 7 3POINTERS TO KEEP US IN CONTROL.TEMPERS STARTED TO FLARE FROM THE SHELTON BOYS/GIRLS SIDE AS THE COACH DECIDED TO TRY TO PLAY DADDY TO SOMEONE ELSES SON BUT GOT THE DOOR SLAMMED IN HIS FACE...HARD...LOL. THEN AFTER MYSELF AND THE OPPOSING COACH WERE TOLD TO SIT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE GAME HIS SEAT GOT HOTTER AND HARDER. AN ONCE HE GOT OUT OF IT HE WAS ON FIRE AS HE CAME ACROOS THE COURT TO APPROACH DA GENERAL AND GOT IN MY FACE LIKE I WAS THE PRIVATE BUT THE TROOPS RALLIED UP AND PUSHED HIM AWAY. "VOILENCE IS NOT THE KEY BUT UNITY IS" SO I WOULD LIKE TO THANK MY PLAYERS(DA FAM GIRLS)FOR HELPING GET DA GENERAL OUT OF A SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE RISKED MY FREEDOM AS WELL AS OUR FUTURE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES.SO THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTORS DECLARED US THE WINNER AFTER STATING THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER GAMES BECAUSE OF THE BEHAVIOR OF THE POOR SPORTSMAN(RAY QUEEN)WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE IAABO FOR THE SWEATHIRTS AND T-SHIRTS FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR.NEWCOMER CHRISSY STEPPED IN AND PLAYED LIKE SHE HAD BEEN THERE ALL YEAR BY TAKING ON THE DEFENSIVE DUTIES OF CASEY DULIN IN THE SECOND HALF.BUT SHE NEEDS TO TAKE ALL OPEN SOT OPPURTUNITIES BECAUSE THEY DON'T COME OFTEN FOR EVERYBODY!!!!

DA FAM CLUB 14U GIRLS FALL SHORT OF BECOMING THE NIKE SWOOSH LEAGUE "BATTLE OF THE BURROUGHS" CHAMPIONS FOR THE STATE OF NEW YORK BUT WIN THE BURROUGH OF WESCHESTER COUNTY. THE GIRLS WENT INTO NEW YORK FRIDAY,SATURDAY AND THEN SUNDAY WITH THEIR HEADS RAISED HIGH AND WAS BROUGHT DOWN TO EARTH QUICKLY AS THE NY REP'S TOOK A 20 POINT LEAD GOING INTO THE HALF AGAINST US. THE GIRLS WERE SHELLSHOCKED TO SEE A TEAM OUT PERFORM THEM WITH THE SAME TYPE OF STYLE AND PLAY THAT THE USUALLY DO AGAINST OPPENENTS. THE GIRLS THEN TOOK OFF THEIR CASUAL WEAR AND PUT ON THEIR SWEATS AND FOUGHT BACK IN THE GAME WITH THE SUPPORT FROM COACHES DALE SIMMONS,MIKE PRIM AND GARY NELSON.AN WITH 1 MINUTE LEFT IN THE GAME THE GIRLS WERE DOWN TWO POINTS WITH THE BALL AND HALF OF THE NEW YORK CROWD SHIFTING AND ROOTING FOR THE UNDERDOGS FROM CT. BUT WITH A COUPLE OF QUESTINABLE CALLS DOWN THE STRETCH AND NY GOING TO THE LINE WITH EVERY TRAP THAT WAS PUT ON THEM WE TOOK A TOUGH LOSS HOME AS OUR SEASON ENDED FOR THE FALL. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO THANK THE GIRL'S AND THEIR PARENTS FOR ALL OF THEIR SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE SEASON AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THEM BLOSSOM AS THEY GO ON TO THEIR RESPECTED HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS.

But after a long half time talk and a few Halftime adjustments by the coaching staff of Gary "Da General" Nelson Jr ,Mike Prim and Dale Simmons, Da FAM Club came back and cut the lead to 2pts with 1 minute remaining in the game. But with a game full of beat up knockem down plays the whistles got tight on every Da FAM trap an the girls got into foul trouble an the game slipped away as we lost by 4 pts.

On the way we beat the NJ PLAYAZ,Meriden boys/girls Club and the Stamford Express enroute to the championship in which we beat the NJ Playaz again to take home the Championship. The Boys played well as a team and they won as a team. But you couldn't help but to watch Greg Langston,Russell Payton,Wayne Bentley and Luke Mazzariti on offense as they Sliced and Diced defenses with their ball handling and Streetball type finishes. But on defense Sheldon Clarke,Wayne Bentley,Jordan Neal,Greg,David and Dashon shut down offenses with our tight man to man and 3-2 zone trap.We would like to thank everybody who particpated in making this a championship weekend and we look to continue in Our winning ways.WHO WANTS NEXT.....HOLLA AT DA FAM Club

Latavia Goss drops 41pts and Da FAM Club14u gets win

Da FAM girls have been stepping up their game in the last couple of weeks improving to 3-0 in the Oxford league. The guard play for us has to be figured out by me to who is going to be our true point guard come Tournament time.Right now the position is in the hands of Alasia Byrd and Shanya Calandro.Alasia has good ball handling skills but needs to be able to make good descions and see the floor as she is moving around on the floor.Shayna handle has not came into it own but has good court vision an know how to get to her shot and the ball to Latavia when needed. She just has to get the fire in her an trap it inside so that she can be the player that i see in her eyes.Shemmecca Clarke has also come along and is starting to comfartable taking shots and handling the ball but still needs to want the ball at any point in the game.Rashana is a great defender and wants to learn more about the game but she also has to want to get the ball at all points of the game like our last game in which she finished with 10 points which all came in the second half.
Latavia Goss is coming into her game but just needs to keep her mouth closed when addressing officials, spectators and opposing players. Once she controls her tmeper tantrums she will be one of the top players in the State.she is averaging at least 25 a game in the Oxford league and has been working on her handle and passing ability but she can hurt her self if she doesn't get under-control.

Da FAM Club/Dynasty 8th grade boys starts off collaboration with all 20+ wins

Da FAM Club and Dynasty of New Jersey has collaborated for the 2005-06 season and are looking to start a long time relationship between our 2 Programs.Coach Rich Young and I are looking to do big things with the kids an also help them get exposed to the other parts of the country through basketball and education. In our first League together in Queens,New York we have jumped out to a 3-1 record with the one loss coming from our late arrival. But after that first game lost we have won all 3 league games by 30+ led by Greg Langston(CT),Russell Payton(CT),Macey(NJ),Dante(NJ),Dashon Moffit(CT) and David Jefferson(CT).The kids all seem to be meshing well together an are passing in clicking together on Offense and Defense which is opening the games wide open.In our other matchups we beat the MT.Vernon Boys/Girls Club by 20+ then went on to spend the night in Lakewood,NJ an won by 30+ in two wins over Lakewood Rec and Tom River,Nj in the MLK Classic on the weekend of 1/14-1/15.We did not win the tournament because of a shortage of players on in the friday game which the team lost to the Central Jersey Team.
Shayna Calandro leads Da FAM Club with 20 points in Win

Last night's game was full of new faces but one of the new faces to the Da FAM Club in December 2005 Shayna Calandro came alive last night as she led Da FAM Club in scoring with a breakout game for her in our lineup as she dropped 12pts in the 1st period and finished up with 20pt for the game.Shayna finally came out an played the game me and her pops team dad Lynn new she had as she went out an did her usual passing, rebounding and defense but last night came alive on offense. She still missed out some chances of raising that point toal i beleive with a few more games under her belt. I beleive she will be ready to continue with that point total when tournament time comes in the spring and summer .Alasia Byrd played well last night with fewer mistakes but still has to want to take in the information when addressed with it and she can become a good Point guard.Rashana also played another good defensive and rebounding game but i still need to work on getting her out of the quicksand on offense .Latavia Goss was on board but she needed to go in to timeout for awhile as she had another outburst with Da General over the addition of the North End Rec players. After coming out of her timeout she came out an played well an act like she understood that she will not dictate what will go on with this team only be apart of it as a player .As far as the girls from up north they came in played well after the second quarter an to be coming from another team they meshed well together as far as passing and defending. We will see over the next few games on what the outcome will be.I would also like to thank Coach Ralph for coming in an be open to letting the girls play together an get used to playing with kids from other areas the will better prepare them with people skills in the future.

Da FAM Club 11u and 13u moves on in Amity t-ment

Da FAM Club moves on in the Amity tournament this past weekend with wins in the 11u and 13u boys. The 11u boys had the first win of the day for Da FAM Club with a win over Cheshire Rec with a win by plus 15pts led by Stephan Coram and Richard Simmons(NJ) in points but on defense Earl Coleman,David Klien and lil Charles Simmons helped shut down Cheshire with our patened defense as we scored numerous points off of Turnovers....In the 13u division we beat the FFld PAL Hawks by 15pts plus as we were just dominate on the pressure defense. But the kids came out struggling on offense maybe because they couldn't wait to get to the next game which could probably be the Cardinal Shean Center. If we come out playing the way we did we could be in trouble....But the Stage is set....
Da FAM Club/Dynasty 14-15 BOYS pull out Hoopz Mountian Championship in NJ
Da FAM Club/Dynasty has done it again this time in NJ winning the 14-15 boys division in the Hoopz Mountian t-ment in Vernon,NJ.Da Boyz got their first look at the countryside in NJ but also a look at what programs are gonna be in their way this summer. One of the Elite programs from Ny was in it Riverside Church. They were full of size and quick off the dribble. But once again the pressure defense and the swinging Guards was to much to comprehend for the oppenents. We beat Riverside by 26pts 46-20 led by Big Kam(NJ) with 13pts and Shaeed with 8pts.But the defense was led by Macey(6pts),Jerrod Jefferson(4pts),Russ(3pts) and Lil Wayne(5pts) as they took the guards to the corners and got the traps going aas we ran away with the CHIP.In the Game versus Vernon Vikings (9th graders) we spreaded the floor and hit jumpers from all over the floor. We also got the Press going and got numerous steals off of it as we won 50-35.The lead scorers were Jerrod(14pts) and Macey(14pts) who controllrd the boards and the Back door on the press.
The kids played well and we are looking to go on further in the AAU search for the big name programs....Watch out ya'll Here we come....

Da FAM Club 14u girls win the Championship Center Court inside Basketball Hall of Fame

Da FAM Club Girls do it again this time winning the BasketBull tournament "Hall of Fame Tourney" inside the Basketball Hall of Fame Center Court.Da FAM Club was led by Latavia Goss(Bassick) with 16 points a game even though she was in foul trouble throughtout the tournament.Tavia had to sit out the entire first Half as well as part of the second half as she came out of the gate to anxious an picked up 3 quick fouls 5 minutes into the 1st round game. But in return along with the return to the roster Ashley Prim they staged a rally that pushed Da FAM back into the lead for good. The second game was against A Scrappy team who tried to use all 12 players 60 fouls to contian Latavia and crew but just couldn't do nothing with the supporting Cast for this tournament. Taleesha Peeler(8th Bridgeport),Shayna Calandro(Milford 8th),Krisia(Mcmahon) and Jordan Staton(Hillhouse) defense inside the paint and in the corners where We worked our traps were to much as We fought our way out without injuries to the Championship round which was going to be in the Center Court at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield,Mass. Nillie(Hillhouse) and Ellen Bethea(Hillhouse) also had to pick up the slack at Point Guard because of the absence of Ashley Prim who had to leave because of a prior engagement. An they handled it well as We jumped up to plus 20 numerous times in the game after a couple of frustrating fouls from them on Latavia everytime she crossed halfcourt. But that set the stage for the Championship Sunday with girls ready to go we arrived a hour before the game to view the "HALL" and check the rims for Height and Softness, We jumped out to a pit of Quicksand as We couldn't seem to get it going and the Middlesex Rage was running on Fresh Golf Course Green up to a 15 point Lead and 12 point halftime lead. But after a Nice Calm halftime speech and a few game adjustments We slowly swithched to 4 wheel drive an began to catch up.With a few key stops from Taleesha Peeler and Dannisha "Bug" Pierce(Hillhouse) We started to chip away going into the final stretch. Then with 4minutes left We went to a tight grip with a full court Man to Man defense which locked down their guards penetration and kicks and We took the lead going into the last 1:30 in the game. With packed Hall of Fame Crowd yelling play by play Da FAM Club and the Rage exchanged timeouts down the stretch to keep the focus of the kids and the script and became a chess match between the two sides .But with the assistance of Coaches Mike Prim and Don Peeler We pulled out a 54-51 win. We would like to thank the BasketBull Family for the Experience in playing Center Court inside the Hall of Fame as well as the Mothers and parents who took us up for the weekend Games on Mother's Day.

Da FAM Club 14/15boys lose in Final at CT Select Tourney

Da FAM Club boys finished in 2nd once again this time in the CT Select Basketball tourney in Waterbury,CT at River Baldwin Gymnasium. Da FAM Club started off the tourney with hopes of just competing but ended up knocking off New Haven Heat in a a which came down to strong presence on da Boards and a Lil thing called 3-2 zone defense...In a game filled with back and forth lead changes ,none was no bigger than when Da Heat held the ball for a minute which put the clock to 1minute as we sat back and waited for them to make their move in our 3-2 zone trap...As 1minute approached Da Heat went to make their move and a trap and still occured as we took the ball the length of the floor for a layup with under a minute to go.Then a Time out was called and We fell back again and received another steal which gave us the final lead change of the game as We "So called Upset"the New Haven Heat. Then in Game 2 we played against a high power Philly USA TEAM which had a "Dwayne Wade" Shooting Guard who dazzled da Tourney with Wade like moves. But the return of Luke Mattarazi to the lineup with the combo guard Ronnie Underwood,Brandon,Jordan Neal and Alex Conaway along with our inside presence from Jerrod Jefferson,Big K.C and Luis on da boards we competed for the whole 32 minutes giving us a chance to fight to the end.As the end neared Da FAM Club unity seemed to get stronger as everyone contributed down the line especially da young one Brandon as he hit da Floater to send us to overtime at the buzzard over the outstretched hands of the 6foot plus forwads they had..But in Overtime Luke took over hitting Big 3 after Big 3 as we went back and forth to the end then with less than 15seconds left Jerrod jefferson finished with a power move which sealed the 3 point victory. But in the Championship game we fell apart and egoes kicked in as We fell to CT Select(Waterbury and Hartford) which featured some of the top 8th/9th grade players in the Country,Josh(Waterbury),Anthony Jernigan(Hartford) and Big Baby Yelling(Hartford)6'4" who just cleaned the boards and floor with all the loose balls and rebounds..Da FAM Club played well but I beleive they forgot what got them there and will learn from the Game for the future.

CT Select and Da FAM Club 13u girls open up Season with a Championship...at Hoop Group...

Ct Select and Da FAM Club opened up in style with a 3 game sweeping down at the Hoop Group "Tournament of Champions" at Rutgers University in Newark this past weekend....The girls were supposed to open their Rough season with the NY Gauchos but for someone reason they were not able to make it...But we continued on with our plan anyway by winning all three games by double digits to win the tournament championship. Ct Select excellent teamwork with Ball movement and Team Defense and rebounding. Led by Point Guard Andreana Thomas she dropped dimes allover the cort to help keep 3 to 4 players in Double digits for the game so that she can keep her average of 8 assists a game and when she wasn't dropping dimes she was receiving them from our post players who were to big for the opposition with 6 footer Kalinka Deroche in the middle controling the boards and the basket with plus 5 and 6 rebounds assist, steal and points in every game throughout the tournament as well as , Bria moore who averaged 8 rebounds a game through the tournament as well as 10 points for the weekend, then off the bench for the post Takerra williams came off with a average of 6 rebounds a game but played a key part in the championship game with her rebounds and layups back door. Then we also had Quanesha Copper who comes off the bench with force who came down with big rebounds and putbacks with fouls as well as a monsterous block. In the guard play Cathy Nolisa ran the floor like a race horse i've seen before finishing layups either hand as well as 5 blocks,7 rebounds and 3 steals in the championship game. Patricia rivera,Janaya Bradley,Kiara Hart and Quanisha Cooper chipped in off the bench with rebounds & steals in a few strong baskets to help seal the tournament Victory...I would like to thank the Coaches for thier great help on the bench in assisting in play calling Bench Courm and Assignments for the players...One down 9 to Go...
Uconn's Kalana Green showing sum Love to Da FAM Club 2008

Da FAM Club girls do it again by winning their second tournament in March and in thier early season schedule making them 2 for 2 in tournament play.Led by Andrean Thomas and Cathy Nolisa on the break Ct Select ran through teams like Pepto Bismo with 30 plus point wins in the CYO/ADIDAS Tournament with wins over the Springfield Sparks in the championship game which was full of fantastic plays from Destiney Cooper and Patricia Rivera who both hit halfcourt buzzard Beaters in the 2nd quarter and 3rd Quarter.Destiney Cooper stepped up big in the tournament with breakaway steal and layups to finish in double digits in the Championship Game. The post game again was held down by Kalinka Deroche,Bria Moore and Big Time Quanesha Copper as the started the breaks off of Rebonds and Blocks from all angles of the Floor. The team again had a balance attack with all the players scoring and contributing in the team Defense. In the Morning game at Amity High the Girls also beat the Shehan Center girls team to start of the Amity tourney play for us..We were led by Andreana Thomas with 25points as the post again contributed big time with their dominace in controlling th rebounds and put backs.
Aprils Fools !!! 3 in a ROW! Da FAM Club 13u girls go 5-0 to win 2007 Hall of Fame Tourney

As I always seem to say ..."And a another One!!!!"Da FAM Club Girls 13u went up into Springfield,Mass on a mission to solidify their place in the State of CT as well as getting a chance to play inside the Basketball Hall of Fame ,where the Legendary Jersey's Hang. The girls started off the weekend right with our 2 7th/8th grade girls winning in the Semifinal games in the Amity tournament over East Haven and Hamden Fathers Travel programs to setup a Da FAM Club Championship against each other... "Talking about Bragging Rights" No matter what happens I would like to first thank the Kids for marking this in the History of the Organization of Hosting a tournament Championship with Our teams playing each Other. Besides all that Back to Springfield,Mass where Da FAM Club had a 12u,13u,14u and 16u teams looking to pick up some wins. But the Saturday started off on a down in Mass as the 14u started off the tournament with a 20 point loss then the 16u got beat by 20 plus by the CT Shamrocks,An right after that our 12u got beat by the CT Shamrocks by 20 plus then after all the losses came the 13u girls who were already warmed up from the Amity games came right in an opened up to a 25 point lead with 9 minutes only ticked off the 1st half clock. Led by Andreana Thomas at the One and Cathy Nolisa running the wing they opened the court wide open with long passes of the rebound by Quanesha "Da Big Baby" Copper , KalinKa "Da Link" Deroche and Bria "Da Beast" Moore WE went into the Half by at Least 30 Points. After the Half it was a free for all as everyone chipped as Janya Bradley chipped with a few points, steals ,rebounds and some assists as well as Patricia Rivera who also helped keep the defense honest with her execution and understanding of the gameplan she has continued to be the glue to the Offense of schemes. Takerra Williams also had a big game with key rebounds for putbacks and blocks. By the end of the day saturday all the teams had a win and th 13u were still undeafeted with another win in the Nightcap over CT Heat. So all that setup the Sunday morning game with the CT Shamrock's 13u National Team and the nerves were up before the game well at least for me, with the programs name hanging in the air the Ball came down to start the game and right from the tap Da FAM Club was off to the races with a full team effort we jumped out to a 25 point halftime lead. As the half started my worry of the games coming out flat went away quick as they ontinued to knock down shots and run the breaks as we ended up winning by 40points by the end as andreana Thomas dribbled out the lst 1 minute of the game Set us up with a semi Final Match with another respected program CT Storm who came out hot and fought with our frontline for the whole first half but by mid second half the legs gave out for them and our whole sale subs gave us enought to give us a 25 point win and a free ticket to play at The abasketball Halll Of Fame against a pretty good Western Mass Cheetas team but after their 8-0 jump out lead we got it together and opened up a 20point lead to solidify another Championship Run . I would like to thank the parents and Coaches for thier time and effort during the games. The 12u ended up 1-2,13u 5-0,14u 1-2,16u 2-1. We will be to work in the gym Tuesday Night to get ready for our first National Tournament at THE Boo Williams NIKE Invitational in Newport News and Hampton,Va April 13-15 2007.
14U and 16u put up fight in the AAU state Tournament!!!

Da FAM Club/ Ct Select 12u and 13u advnce to Championship Rounds in AAU State Playoffs!!

Da FAM Club 12u girls made their State basketball debut for Ct Select and Da FAM Club in their State tournament this past weekend going 4-0 at the New Haven Fieldhouse Athletic Center as they pressed thier way to the Championship round this upcoming weekend. Led By Bria Holmes ,Destiny Cooper,Brianna Bradford and DiDi Nolisa the girls won by an average 20 plus per game with their pressing and trapping defense orchestrated by Coach Allen Scott(Hillhouse) the 7 girls caused turnovers into fastbreaks as Aaliyah Robinson,Olivia Levey and Alexa Dwyer filled the passing lanes to help fill up the point column. As for the 13u girls they begin their state run on late friday night as they started off with a 20 point win over the Middlesex Rage led by Cathy Nolisa and Andreana Thomas with their pressure defense as well as their ability to run the fast Breaks. Also the post game continued to become a promblem for our opposing teams as Quanesha Copper,Kalinka Deroche and Takerra williams continued to outrebound and finish putbacks to give our guards freedom to take the shots from the outside. On Saturday we traveled up to East Haven where we beat a tough CT Starters team but it was just another case of hard defense and running offense which gave us another 20 point win. Then later in the evening we faced the CT Storm in a rematch game from the Basketball Hall of Fame playoffs where they gave us a fight but the same thing seemed to be the promblem as our guard play led by Andreana Thomas and Cathy Nolisa jumped out in front with both having scored double digits by the half.In the second half the Guards continued to score as Bria Moore stepped up with sum putbacks to help finish off the storm with Andreana and Cathy finishing with 20plus points and Bria Moore and Kalinka finishing in Double digits as well. Then on Sunday We played a Big Game versus The Number 1 seeded CT Spirit and the girls and showed they were ready to play as the held the Spirit to just 2 points until 3 minutes left in the first half. Then they finished up the half with another layup and 4 free throws. As the second half started we again through our pressure we increased the lead up to 35-28 where we then began to go basket to basket to finish the game. The CT Spirit fans got a lil Hyped up as he got the lead down to 16 points ,but as time was running out all we seemed to care about was the Finish line which was near...The STAGE is SET for the Players nad Program to get pushed out into the Fore front but the Question is will they be able to handle it with the Marbles all on the Line????AAAA!!!!YYYEEEESSSS!!!! I would like to Thank again the Players, parents and Coaches for their time this weekend for helping make the tournament a successful run up until this date.
Ct Select's 12u(Div2)Olivia Levey & 13u(Div1) Micaela Doyle won CT AAU state Championships

Da FAM Club 12u,13u & 14u battle the Best(UCONN'S Tina Charles) of New Jersey and New York

Da FAM Club 12u,13u and 14u headed down to the "Dirty" New Jersey to battle with the best of Jersey and One The best girls programs in the NY. The 12u girls started their game versus the NJ AAU State Champs Jersey Sparks and NY Panthers a litlle nervous as they watched in the layup lines as both teams had girls 5'9',5'10' and possible 6 foot in their frontlines warming up. But as the games got into the thick a things Bria Holmes , Destiny Cooper and Micaela Doyle opened up the floor with fastbreak layups and pull up jumpers from allover the floor from Ms. Doyle as she had her breakout games of the year. Micaela opened up the tournament with a few short jumpers but as the games wore on she started reaching out to 3point land. An when they were off 5'9" 11 year old Olivia Levey was there to Clean it up as she also broke out of her shell to have a great game with double digit rebounds and points. As for the game though it was a battle to the end but the empty bench for Da FAM seemed to tell the game as we couldn't give that extra push to win the game. In the second game for the 12u/7th they beat a feisty 7 man NY Douglas Panthers team out of Harlem which also was a good game but the players as well as the Fam wasn't looking to leave with a 0-2 record. As for the 13u girls they continued their roll of wins throughout NY,NJ,MASS AND CT(23-1 in tournaments/Northeast)As they beat a NJ Freedom in the first game which had numerous players doing what they supposed to do as far as rebounding, running the brakes, knocking down shots and executing when needed to. Things are really shaping up for the summer National Team Hunt that is coming in the upcoming weeks. Also in the 14u division the girls took a lost to the NJ AAU State champs NJ Sparks in a game that was controlled by aggression. In the second game they beat a NY panthers team that will be looking for revenge when we come to town in June in July in "HARLEM WORLD".

Da FAM Club's 8th grader Adonne Mero gearing up for 2008-09 Season

Da FAM Club 7th/8th grade girls open up at Beecher school

Da FAM Club girls opened in their first home game for the 2008-09 Winter season at Beecher school in New Haven,CT.The program played host to St.Bendicts(NY)and NY Travel team. The girls came out and showed good team work as they got comfortable with each others Game. Da FAM Club took a lost to St.Benedict by 1point and in that game learned the importance of having and understanding offense sets and assignments. In the second game we defeated the NY Travel team with a double digit win as the girls digged deep to play some good team defense.Khirsten Brunson and Alivia Wilson finally broke out of their Offensive shells to have season highs in scoring, for them. Nicole Anderson and Alyssa continue to establish themselves as leaders on the court but, they are getting big support from Adonne Mero,Brittney Samuels and Imani Canton in the paint. Aaryn Clayton and Katie Murphy continue to work-on extending the defense on the upcourt pressure as well as on offense, with their jumpshot's from the corner. So for the frist real 2 game in 4 hour schedule i think they handled things well. But the test will continue to put in front of them and hopefully as a unit we will be able to pass and move on to the Next Level of Basketball with Flying Colors....lol

Da FAM Club "For the Love of the Game" Results

We would like to thank all the teams that participated in our 5th annual Basketball tournament on Dec3rd and 4th.The weekend started off with the Girls and ended up with the Safe city(girls)team from Boston,Mass winning it all with a 6point win over Da FAM club in the Championship. In the boys 12-13 division another Boston team the Boston Saintz coached by Santonio"pumpkin"Gooding knocked off Da FAM Club with a missed shot at the buzzered by Greg Langston who won the game before over Meriden with the same situation with a put back off a miss with 2 seconds remaining in the semifinals. In the 14-15 Division for the boys the Hartford Knights beat Meriden to win the division by going undeafeted during the tournament. The Celebrity game was cancelled due to the weathewr but "Hot Sauce and I'll Be Right Back took in a eye full of entertainment themselves as they watched the Championship games that were played at Central high school.
We would like to thank the West Haven girls travel program,Waterbury North end Rec girls teams,Boston Safe City girls,12-13 Boston saintz Boys,Hartford Knights 14-15 boysMeriden 6th/7th and 8th grade boys,Newtown12-13 boys,NYC Bulldogs 12-13 and 14-15 boys and Nj Dynasty 14-15 for all participating in the tournament.I would also like to thank the coaches for dealing with the scheduling mishaps on saturday and still returning to finish up on Sunday even with the inclement weather.Hopefully we will see these teams in the near future and we will be able to keep our relationships with the kids the same.
Da FAM Club 12-14 girls 2005/2006

Da FAM Club 2005/06 girls for the upcoming season is in its rebuilding stages but the girls are learning and wanting to learn for the upcoming spring/summer season. With Alasia Byrd at the point along with newcomer Shayna Calandro the Girls ran off to a 71-17 win in the opening game of the Oxford Rec Season. The team was led by Alasia Byrd in scoring and Shayna in assists as they ran away with the win.But the still have to learn each others game and the coaches style of play before they can even think of repeating Da FAM Club girls of Last year. Alasia shows potential but has to learn that there are two sides of the court and her body (left/hand/right hand) and she could become a good player at the next level. Also Jackie Gonzalez and Marissa came back for another season and showed some improvement but needs to also understand the game a little more as far as awareness and Softness of their shots but that is what the coaches are for .Newcomers Rashana and Crew also showed potential but needs to understand that Defense is played with their hands up instead of holding on to their shorts.Da FAM Club also took on a tough Boston team in our tournament but the commitment factor was a big issue the kids have to understand being apart of a team means being there when they need them which means being at scheduled games. We had a few new players at the Tournament game that also showed potential,Carina and Tyronda but again the kids have to breakout of the shy guy stage and play the game or they will get ran over by the opposing teams.Lets see how they progress throught the season....(Long Season)...??

Da FAM Club comes up short in the 30th Amity TOURNEY losing in the first round to Monroe Travel girls in a lopsided win for them led by Tamika Cummings. Shayna Calandra led Da FAM Club in scoring with 8 points in the loss.Due to the lack of girls showing up we were not able to compete at a pleasing level for the General.....In the 14u boys divison the boys took a lose at the hands of the Shehan center by 40 points.Shehan center was led by Jerome Parkins with 20 points and Laquan Mendenhall at the point droppin dimes all over the 3-2 defense....in the 11u division the boys made it to the semifinals where they took a 1 point loss at the hands of the Shehan center but was led by Stephan Coram(#35) with 20 plus and Earl coleman(#7),Learnard Cohen(in back black socks) ,David Klien(in back light skin youth), and Chad Norris(in front pulling up shorts) who were like the FAB 5 as they played all 32 minutes to keep the Shehan center players and Fans sitting tight to the Horn.I would like to Thank Big Worm Team Manager Pearl Coleman for helping with the tournament and donating on the New Adidas CT Select and Da FAM Club uniforms. We will be looking to expand the programs Ventures in the future with the support of more sponsers ,Parents,Players and Fans.......
