Royals Win National Eliminations!

The East Coast Royals broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Dartmouth 3-2 and advance to their first ever National Championship. Tiernan MacDonald threw 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win and rookie Griffin Smith came on with two runners on to get the final two outs and record the save. Joe McKegney led the offense with two singles and a stolen base. McKegney's theft of third with two outs in the sixth led to an errant throw and he easily scored on the error to put the Royals on top.

Asked after the game about the win, royals catcher and unofficial tournament MVP Brett Hunt said "We lost in the final previous two years. We came in with the mindset that this year was our turn. It's so darn hot". Shortstop Colton Meagher, who along with MacDonald, McKegney, and Hunt is playing in his last season of junior eligibility was asked if that made this win extra special replied "It definitely does. The guys worked hard this weekend and this win is well deserved. It's so bloody hot".

Nationals take place in Gatineau, QC from August 15-18. East Coast will play the host Gatineau, Saskatchewan, and Ontario1.
