TEAM HISTORY

The Broward Metz Began play in 1991. The team was form by Pc Senior , Eddie and Pc Cabrera. The Name "Metz" came about from the two New York Teams , The Mets and Yankees .Being from New York we decided to combine both teams and make it a unique name and we decided on "METZ ", using the Pinstrips of the Yankees and the Navy blue of the Mets. the Metz played thier first season in Miami in a League played at Taimiami Park, winning it all with a record of 11-1 and winning all three play-off games to claim their FIRST EVER CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.. The Team later moved on to play one season in what is now a long forgotten league the MABA played out of the old and torn down Miami Stadium. The team moved up to Broward in 1992 to play in another league played at Brian Piccallo Park, that first year the team claimed its SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE in as many years in existence. The team played in this league for two more years making the play-offs once and fail to make the play-off for the first time ever it's final year in the league when it decided to make changes and moved back to Miami to play in the SFBL in the spring of 1995. The changes included the resignation of PC senior and Eddie Cabrera. PC Cabrera has taken over the team since then managing and playing along the way. The team took on a new look as well. The Pinstripes were out and a dark navy blue Jersey was now in with gray pans and a Boston "B" cap. The team began their new run in the MABL 18+ and played there for four seasons making the play-offs three times but never were able to win the big game. While playing great baseball during that time. In 1997 the team once again was on the move this time though the move was not out of the SFBL Baseball League, but up in age group , the team moved up to the then 30+ MSBL. In 1999 The team experience a little distraction while claiming its ,First Broward Championship during this time while playing great baseball on the field PC was brought into a ( 2 ) year old law suit against the league that originated while playing in the 18+ divison. since then the team has claimed THREE BROWARD CHAMPIONSHIPS TITLES in a row and in 2000 THIER FIRST AND ONLY MSBL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. In 2001 the league changed its MSBL 30+ to MSBL 28+. The team while trying to rebuild, in 2004 After four years of rebuilding the team finally won ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP, this time playing in thier first ever South Florida baseball Open Summer League. The Team Struggled trying to keep a team together for the next two years in Broward.

AfterThe 2005 fall season PC Cabrera after behind the seen negotiations made a tough decision and moved the team to Dade county were they rebuild and play under the new name The Kendall Metz.

The 2006 season saw more changes in the league , The league changed to a 25+ from its original 28+. The Metz didn't fair good in its first season in Dade County lossing 11 games and tying 1,it was the first time in teams' history it didn't win a game in a season. The Kendall Metz then moved up to the 35+ Division and hope to make a lot of noise there stay tune .

The Kendall Metz Made History JUNE 24,2007 winning its 100 career win in Franchise history, it took longer then expected but it finally happen, the team looks forwards to winning its 200 win of its career much faster .

The Metz made it back to the play-offs in the 2007 summer season but only to be eliminated in the first round. In the Fall Season of 2008 the Kendall Metz made the Play-offs again. This time they played in a semi-final game against the Lauderdale Dodgers, the Knedall Metz felt they had out right won the spot but League officials didn't agree and made this game happen.. The Lauderdale Dogers beat the Metz once again eliminating them from the play-offs. As a result of the Decision made by the SFBL leagues President regarding the Play-off picture PC Cabrera made the decision to look for other leagues to play in the near future. PC Cabrera didn't find a good league in time to start the spring 2009 season as a result The Kendall Metz played in the Spring 2009 season in the SFBL,

PC Cabrera finalized a deal with the NABA late in June 2009 but only to back out after the SFBL offered him a new contract to help build a wood bat Division in the league. The wood bat league was still not developed and PC Cabrera once again was considering moving the team to the NABA as early as the Fall of 2010. Ironically the Kendall Metz were one win away from claiming the 35+ Master Division championship in the Spring 2010 but came up one run short and lost to the Miami Orioles in what possibly could be the last game they play in the SFBL.

In the Fall 2010 Season The Kendall Metz had a tough time fielding a team throughout the season, and were still able to make the play-offs only to be knocked out by the South Florida Dodgers in the first round. PC Cabrera soon after the loss dismantled the entire team by releasing every player except three and for a while it looked like the team was done for good. After once again giving it a thought of jumping to the NABA and starting fresh ,PC Cabrera decided to keep the team in the SFBL and began rebuilding the team around the players he had kept. PC signed Richard Cabrera, Tony Bergnas and Kenny Martinez back right away but was not able to re-sign Paul Ruggiano. Richard Cabrera is the only palyer from The once three time championship teams from the late 90's and the beginning of the 2000 year. Kenny Martinez has been part of the team for 10 years. PC Cabrera was also able to work out a deal with the Miami Blues and sign several players from that team to one year contracts for The 2011 spring season. Two other pick ups that the Metz were working on were ex-major leaguer Mike Draper ( who pitched for the New York Mets in the early 90's ) and would have been the Ace of the Staff had he signed and Frank Pagliughi was the other player who was just about signed for the 2011 spring season but never did.

In the Fall 2011 season it finally happen, PC Cabrera ceased operation and abruptly informed the SFBL the team would no longer be playing in the Fall 2011 season. PC Cabrera said that after several tough seasons on the field and financially he felt it was in the best interest of the team to stop operation and regroup. PC Cabrera made it clear that it may be the end of an era in the South Florida Baseball League, but its not the end of the team. PC Cabrera said that after going back in forth with maybe taking the team to the NABA because of the Finanical issues in the SFBL the abrupt decision made it much easier for him to move the team. PC Cabrera said he will rebuild right away and hopefully have the team ready to play in the NABA in Spring 2012 season.

The Spring 2012 Season began for the Kendall Metz but not in the NABA as it was plan. PC Cabrera did rebuild the team but was not able to work out a deal to move the team to the new league, instead the team started play once again in the SFBL. The team took on a new look with navy blue jerseys with white and orange lettering ,Grey pants and navy blue caps also with white and orange letters.

June 2012 The Kendall Metz join the FLABL League Pc Cabrera after several talks with the FLABL league decided to make the jump to the league and began playing in late August of that year. The Kendall Metz began operating in the FLABL right away and PC Cabrera spend many hours recruiting and signing new players for the league. The Metz played an Exhibition game against the Miami A's a month later.

Kendall Metz operation has come to a haul

November 10, 2011

The Kendall Metz baseball team has come to an abrupt haul for the time being. General Manager and Owner PC Cabrera has informed the league that the team will no longer be playing in the current 2011 Fall season. The league President and PC had a long conversation today about the day to day operation of the team and came to an agreement that for the best interest of the team and the league it was going to haul operation for the current fall 2011 season. PC Cabrera's team came into the league as the Broward Metz back in 1994 and then moved to Kendall in the fall 2008 and play under the name Kendall Metz up to the present time. The team had won several championships along the way. The team started having problems after they moved to Kendall and after several tough seasons on the field and financially PC Cabrera decided it was time to move on. PC Cabrera said although the end of an era has come for the team in the SFBL it doesn't mean its over for the team as a whole.
