The LABL (Los Angeles Baseball League) is a non-profit organization dedicated to playing the game of baseball on the best fields and with the best umpires available to us. We also believe in "giving something back" through structured contributions to the baseball programs on whose fields we are allowed to play. Our League is governed by the team managers (League Board) and operated by the League President. We also have a Board of Directors that handles rules, disciplinary issues, and other issues on an ad hoc basis. LABL Adult Organized Baseball, Since 1989. |
ALL PLAYERS AND MANAGERS: NO DOGS ALLOWED!We all love dogs, but NONE of our fields allow them to be present. So, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR DOG @ HOME. And advise friends and family who might be coming to your game: No Dogs Allowed! Failure to comply could cost us a field. And we are NOT going to risk that, right? Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action. Thanks for your immediate co-operation. | YOU, TOO, COULD BE BLUE!No, we're not suggesting that you change your mood or your color...We're talking about wearing the blue. No, not Dodger Blue...Umpire Blue! That's right, if you've entertained the notion of actually making the calls (versus second-guessing the calls), now's your chance. If you think you have what it takes, and want to learn the ropes, umpire assignor Al Walters is looking for a few good men with blue potential. No experience necessary. Several of our current players have been through the training program and have been actively umpiring local area High School games as well as games in our League--as well as others. Quite a different view from that side of the baseball world, they've discovered. Anyway, if you want more info, email or call Al [Wally] Walters. Email is waltersblue@aol.com Phone is: (323) 258-7313. Visit the website for more info at www.umpirelaunit.org AND, SPEAKING OF OUR UMPIRES... ...our assignor, Al Walters, tells me that he and a group of umpires have gotten together to collect old gloves, baseballs, cleats, etc. for our ballplaying servicemen in Iraq. That's right, these guys get a great release out of playing some baseball--after the stress of doing their jobs. Sound familiar? Anyway, they are really short on gear, so if you can help, call Wally and he'll arrange to have anything you want to donate picked up and shipped off to where it'll do a lot of good. His email is waltersblue@aol.com Or call him @ (323)258-7313. |
